This looks like the same set as was offered for the 328. They look like my 328 set. Also, here is a pic from the Schedoni catalog files: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Also note that the depth of the luggage space was shallower on U.S.-spec models due to the catalytic converter. Ferrari/Schedoni did not make a unique "less-tall" set for the U.S. to my knowledge; the luggage was designed for Euro spec models. My set is a snug fit in my 1988.5 328 GTB; I can get the cargo cover zipped shut, but the luggage 'prints' through the vinyl cover and does put some stress on it. Mine are used exclusively for concours events and is displayed outside the vehicle, so it's not a big deal for me.
Sorry, one last comment regarding the question of 308 vs. 328... My other observation after studying Schedoni luggage over the years is that the color of earlier sets was more of a tobacco brown (as shown in this set for sale). The color of later luggage sets (except those specifically matched to interior colors on later model Ferraris) is a lighter orange-ish brown (which is the color of my 328 set). I believe Schedoni refers to this as Modena leather.
This guy is looking for something north of $5,000. I told him good luck and I'm still interested if he comes down.
That's most likely the current market, IMO... They are selling in Europe as far as $9K, I have toyed with selling mine, at around $10K. This is a beautiful color, that darker that the typical "early" sets which as posted above are more towards the orange end of the "tan" color scale. These were made to order, at the time, so there was no real "standard" color, but predominately the orangish tan was the most common. GLWS! Let me look thru my PMs if one of your current PMs does not work out. I am pulling for "arcticlighting' of course, as he owns my old #22641
I don't want to nit-pick but...this is debatable, as the Schedoni Luggage set wouldn't be "period correct" for a Vetro. Read the Schedoni history on their website and how the first set was a special order from one customer, tailored to suit his car: the 308 luggage set became commercially available later, when Ferrari saw the first set manufactured and decided it was a good idea. The first sets sold on the market as an option for 308 were available in 1979, and only a very samll number were sold, and it was different from the standard one (ask Alberto LP in the 308/328 section for one of these early sets) The one you have, the standard set, was only available from 1980, whereas the Vetro production has already ceased (in 1977); no "Vetro" was ever sold new with a Schedoni luggage set as an accessory... Rgds
It's all on Schedoni site, and the history is very simple: Schedoni was a small leather business, actually a cobbler at its beginings, who diversified in luggage later. One of their relative was Mr Franco Folli from Montmale, near Modena, who owned a 308 GTB (a Vetroresina in that case) and Mrs Folli asked Schedoni if they could manufacture a set of luggage for the car as a Christmas 1976 present for her husband. In 1977, Ferrari heard about the set and talks began, but it is only in 1980 that the set as we know it became available as an option for the Ferrari, embossed with the "Cavallino" etc. In the meantime, a very small number of luggage sets has been manufactured by Schedoni, but these were different (shape and number of bags) of the set that we know today. Look at the picture of the "very seventies-clothed" gentleman and the 308 GTS on Schedoni's home page. Schedoni » History So if we want to be very precise, the standard set is indeed not period correct for a car sold new before 1980. Rgds
It DOES go well, with super flared bell bottoms, and a silk paisely shirt! (1977) As described above, the time range is correct, and when Ferrari finally joined the internet, and offered a set for our cars, it was sold at 4,100 Euro... I have a print on the ad at home. There's really not enough difference in thew trunk dimensions, 308, Euro, 328, to matter, IMO It's soft enough to just smash it in! The set has Cavallinos on the canvas. A recent set of 348 Schedoni I found here in Houston (sold to an Austin chatter) was lacking this logo, but the bags were definately OEM to that set.....
