According to the german source which is also quoted on Reuters it's a done deal. Only the signatures are missing. Apparently the Ferrari contract will be canceled and they won't give Michael any trouble for it. It's gonna be a 1 year deal with Mercedes.

I'm sure he's excited to work with Ross Brawn again.

Looking forward to next season :)

My question is how much of Ferrari inside info will MS be sharing with Mercedes ?

This is all just rumor. Until either Schumi or Merc confirm it, its not fact..

    None.

Think about it: The engine development is frozen and the new Ferrari he has never driven.

If the new Ferrari had some secret weapon like a mass damper or a super diffuser, that'd be something he could take to Merc, but I don't think the next generation of cars has any of that revolutionary "spy" stuff, but is rather an evolution of the current cars.

The devil is in the details and for that you'd need a copy of the manual. Stepney anybody?

    As for the deal itself:

The Reuters report is quoting Bild. And Bild is not actually saying it is a done deal. Plus it is Bild, one of the worst papers out there.

So while I'm hoping this will happen, too early to bring out the champagne at this point.

Yes but BILD were the first that announced his retirement, "comeback episode I" and the Brawn - Mercedes takeover (just to name a few things). But beside that yes the paper is one of the worst ;)

    I can't understand that obsession about Shumacher's come-back.

There will be so many interesting things to watch in GP next year, that we really don't need that kind of distraction anyway.

    - The 2 last WDCs in the same team !!

    - Only 2 manufacturers left!

    - New management at Sauber and Renault!

    - 4 new constructors/teams on the grid!

    - The return of Cosworth!

    - Several new drivers or team/drivers combinations!

    - Jean Todt in charge!

    - A new point scoring system!

    - New professional race stewards!

F1 is becoming a completely new ballgame!! 2010 may be a very interesting season to watch. We could even see some overtaking for a change, and I don't mean the back-markers (of which there will be plenty, I predict).

That is more interesting to me than speculations and gossips about Schumacher.

I have seen enough of Shumacher anyway!!

If Schumi want to drive again it would be unbelievably stupid for Ferrari NOT to sack that useless Massa and let Schumi have his car.
Schumi could drive in circles around Massa in a Ferrari Baby walker.

Maybe sacking Massa is too much. Give him a scooter (red) and make him official pizza delivery guy for the mechanics :D
Then let Schumi race his car.

Schumi Vs Alonso in the same car would be a something to savor, and once Schumi dominated the driver thought to be the current best all-rounder in F1, his legacy would be regarded in even higher esteem ;) !

I would also have thought that if he was to make a come back, you would think it would be with team he has often stated as his family.
But, Schumi has always won with Ross Brawn and there has always been a very strong bond between the two. Also, If the rumors from 2006 are true, and Schumi was pushed out by Luca di Montezemolo in favor of a future Ferrari based around Kimi, which also brought the end of the "dream team", signing for Mercedes maybe seen as "F*** y**" in the direction of Luca..

MS would provide competition for FA and might screw up things more than help. FA is one of the best #2 team drivers ever.

Is it possible that you have not read or seen any of the USF1 threads on here?

BTW: Did you hear that Tiger Woods cheated on his wife and that Schumacher is considering a comeback with Merc?

About four weeks ago I was in Paris, having dinner with some friends, one of whom works for Ferrari on the road car side (press) and one who works for an exF1 sponsor at the french races, anyway, the subject was naturally racing and F1. The one who worked for the sponsors said something like Luca DiMontezemolo was pressing so hard for a third car to keep Michael as his wish was to race again, for one year only, but for obvious reasons had to keep Fernando and Michael refused to take Massa seat, so for Ferrari a no3 car was the only possibility. If this was not possible, Luca would bless any deal Michael wished to enter, for 1 year only, Michael is to return to Ferrari. My friend from Ferrari seemed amused, but refused to deny it. I called my friend from Ferrari today, he said I will find out over the next 2 weeks.
