If you remember, Alonso was penalized on the gird for supposedly impeding Massa during qualifying at the Monza GP. Schumacher said that situation reminded him of his experience at the British Grand in 1994, where he was penalized for ignoring a black flag. He stated at the time he felt he was being singled out because he was leading the WDC, and unfairly penalized, just as Alonso felt in Monza.

After Monza, Schumacher ran into Alonso at the Geneva airport, and told him he sympathized with his feelings and understood his reaction as he has been through a similar situation.

Quoted in Autosport, Schumacher stated: "In hindsight, I have to admit that one later looks at things differently and not only sees one's own side only. Maybe Fernando Alonso will also see it like that in the future."

The penalty you are referring to occurred at the Monza GP, not at Monaco.

Ron, MS got himself into that ticky tacky nonsense at the British GP in 94. Had he not lead the formation lap (he was in 2nd place in qualifying) and let Damon Hill (Pole) lead it, there would have been no reason for the Black Flag. In fact, they wanted to give him a stop and go penalty, but Tom Walkinshaw kept arguing with the stewards and as a result they put out the black flag. The same thing happened with Mansell in 89, but he got suspended only for one race. This was pay back from the FIA for the Benetton Software and to make the season more interesting.

Probably right. Two race ban seems a bit high, and Schumacher admits that Flavio's argung with the FIA just made them angrier.

The FIA was playing the same games with Schumacher in 94 as with Alonso this year: They just hate it when somebody leads/clinches the title too early. They tried artificially block Schumacher from running away with it by giving him that ridiculous race ban after Spa. That was extremely unjustified and unfair.
Compared to a race ban Alonso got "lucky" with just being relegated ten spots at the race. The FIA, Max Mosley and his hench men are a bunch of idiots. USGP05 made that blatantly clear to the world.

The penalty was against Alonso, no MS.

Michael Schumacher is a winner in every sense of the word. He has broken all the records, and is called a cheater because he's a fierce competitor. When he is 'on track' it is 'no holds barred'.

Never in my lifetime will we see such a successful driver. A fellow that even goes out to fulfill his duties the day after his mother dies, and is so truly focused he wins!

Bash him all you want...if he was my boy I'd sure as heck be a proud parent!

    Thanks for the memories, Schumi!
