Very nice model, I like it very much. I also completed my second model of the F2007 which was used during testing in Barcelona. I started a new thread for that one.
So far the only models came close to the new Ferrari metallic red color are the ones you and I built. I seen your model with the Kimi figure Mack posted in Miniwerks forum. Crittenden has done an outstanding job on the figure. You can guess who made the Schumi helmet shown on my model. Yes...that helmet is first class Comments are coming back on the Miniwerks forum about my color saying it's not convincing enough...here go the color critics!
Great job on the models!!!I like the early wheel covers myself. When I saw the car at Indy and took this picture it looked cleaner without the messy BBS covers.Your paint looks a little to metalic. Its so hard to say with that.I love the test version model. You should know, as a model builder critics are common! Most critics are usual from collectors who have two left hands and never were able to built any kind of model. The main problem with this new color is, when it is shady it looks metallic dark red, bud in sunshine the color is much lighter. Dont thing, that anyone who knows how to built will ever have a perfect matching color. So the discussion on that metallic red will continue!
Tom, I fully agree with you on the air induct covers, specially the front ones. Looks much cleaner without them, but collectors wants an original model. As for the paint, look at a photo were the car is in some kind of shade, then you can really see the metallic dark paint. But in sunshine like the photo you took at Indy it looks very bright red. I have to agree. When I saw the car I thought it looked pretty dark. Then I looked at the photos I took and have to say it does not look very dark at all. We need a paint chip from the car!!! Tom Tanner/Scale Designs
And this goes back to photos. I looks different in various lighting...pearl sometimes. That was the reason for a clear over aluminum. It was a comprimise. BTW...after building [professionally] now for almost 20 years I have lots of critics and any publicity is bettter than NO publicity
Tom...I met someone at Rennsport III going over a car in detail. Nice guy. Said he does artwork for a lot of photo etch projects.
It is also very possible that the cars paint was changed slightly during the season.Expermental darker and lighter metalics could have been used.
Tom, Look at both photos, which were taken at the US GP this year. You can see almost two different colors on the F2007. Meaning, that different light condition will change the color! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Even though, Im not a professional builder, I have been building also over 20 years. Mostly for my own collection and some friends. In my opinion, a silver coat is a must in order to get close to the original F2007 paint.
Thank you for the fine comments on my models. Wishing all the members of Ferrari.chat a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new Year. Wolfman
This red looks like the correct late season color... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/M-Schumacher-F1-Ferrari-F2007-Barcelona-Testcar-1-18_W0QQitemZ300192409620QQihZ020QQcategoryZ114338QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
