I read an article on a 355 the legend had when he started at Ferrari. His car was equipped with wheel spacers, plus a higher rev limit. 9,000 rpm I think. However on wheel spacers............... Were they a factory option? Anyone out there no what width these come in? Whose tried them? How much? And where do you buy them from? Thanks Jonathan
Forza Magazine interviewed the current owner of the car. IIRC it has 1CM spacers. Not a factory option, but provided for Schumacher.
We sell wheel spacers of varying thicknesses here: http://www.ricambiamerica.com/index.php?cPath=600_545 Dave
....no changes gothspeed. Only one call to ImolaRacing. They offer a ECU modification. Their F355 is running 9500 rpms without changing anything. The car is running now over 30000 km's with this modification. They have a 5.2 ECU F355 Vintage august 1996. Their modifications are: Intake: 1. They changed the air intake back to 2.7 cars (a 2.7 car gets the air next to the small window, a 5.2 car over the oil coolers) 2. They use the GruppeM air ram system Exhaust: 1. 100 cell cats 2. special exhaust ECU: They made a ECU modification according to the new intake/exhaust parameters with 9500 rpm. The car has 408 hp. Andi
Freakin awesome!!!! Thanks for the info!! I had previously thought only the spiders had the intake over the radiators ...... so it is all 5.2 versions, no matter the model?? So schumi's 355 is a 5.2 model w/single MAF??
Schumacher's car was a 1995 2.7 car. All 5.2 cars have the air intake over the radiators/oilcoolers. That's one reason why they have less power. These cars breathe warmer air because of the oilcoolers and the length of the air tube is twice. The air intake tubes from 2.7 cars are much shorter and they get much more air behind the small windows. 408 HP was at the engine. I forgot to mention that the Imola car also had a fuel cooling system. They did the ECU remapping on a dyno with several runs. But remember that their chip fits only 100 percent to their modifications. They did not only increase the rpm's. They also changed the air-curve and the changed the quantity of fuel. I saw several 355 here in Germany on dyno's: Here is the result: 355 2.7 cars, no modification : 345 - 360 HP at the engine. 355 5.2 cars, no mods : 325 - 345 HP at the engine. 355 challenge cars: 360 - 380 HP That's fact. Andi
I thought Schumi's car had a 10,000 rpm redline not the 9K or 9.5k as some of you say. Chaa knew more about this car.
When installing 11mm spacers, can I do this to the front and back? Do i need longer bolts? Sorry for the stupid question. X
I thought it was 10K redline also?? But.........I cannot remember if that 100% true though?? I think so, but cannot confirm sorry goth.
Yes, the Ferrari Magazine showed Schoey's F355 Gts in the recent issue. The Article was about the evolution of the v8 models from 308 to 458. every model is described in-depth. Schumis F355 GTS is sold now to someone else. It featured Le Mans Blue and white leathers. It had a manual gearbox, spacers, wider tyres, changed camshaft to rev to a redline of 10.00 RPM!! and challenge exhaust.
Hi guys, pictures and text about schumi's heavily modified le mans blue 355 GTS can be found in the recent issue of the magazine called "Ferrari World" (not official Ferrari magazine). I think it's only distributed in Germany at any kiosk in main stations, etc. Yesterday I read the magazine in a kiosk but did not buy it. I try to recap the configuration of his 1997 355 GTS (they said it has been the best of the whole series ever produced with heavy modifications to Schoey's taste): - Le Mans Blue metallic - challenge rims and wider and better tyres - wider track - white leather interior (don't know the exact F name), black dashboard, normal sports seats, no racing seats, white alcantara, looks extremely fresh. - manual 6-speed - heavily modified camshaft (this is the only modification they told in the magazine, probably it had others, too), Revs up to 10.000 rpm, 408 PS confirmed - shorter gear ratio - challenge exhaust It wasn't the first Ferrari Schumi received from Maranello, the first was red (F355 Berlinetta) and in standard configuration. Schumi eventually sold the car to a friend in South France.
