Heard a rumour the other day from a trusted source. The fact that our beloved scuderia have turned their season round from monaco is because a certain german gentleman has been pounding round fiorano and developing the f2007. He was wearing the helmet of luca badoer! The rumour is all over italy-certainly make my day if it was true, not sure what his missus will think?

No i think monte-carlo was the low point.I know the indy/montreal were hardly a success but they looked more promising.

Interesting you mention that. I noticed he looked more fit, like he did when he was racing, when he was presenting the trophy at the Nurburgring, then he did around Monaco and before.

It sounds more like "legend" bleeding over into reality. But really...I too would just love it if this were true. And if it were so, why wouldn't it be common knowledge? Why keep it a secret? As many Ferrari fans do....I too feel a great loss since Schumi's retirement. Maybe people are trying to keep the old fires burning. It this were true I wouldn't be too surprised - and it sure would make a great story to tell my "nascar" type friends around the water cooler - as to what makes a truly great driver. So if there's any way this can be substantiated...I'd like to hear it.

Why? Whocares? Wouldn't you guys rather ahve this seasons driver's developing the car rather then someone who doesn't even race it? get over the wet dreams already.

I'am sure that Schumi will have had a blast in the F2007, due to his curiosity. But i really can't see him doing any hard testing! If he was prepaired to be a "tester" he would be prepaired to race!!!

But i do like the myth :)

I don't think Schumi is testing the F2007, or developing it. At most I could see him wanting to go for a spin in one and wearing a different helmet so it wouldn't be a big deal/have pictures published of it.

Right. And since Michael now weighs 190 pounds they knew that every one of his practice tenths translates into five Kimi or Flippy tenths.

Schumacher doesn't strike me as someone that would do secret testing and help someone else get all the glory.

there could be a possibility of MS just testing for fun, and nothing else.

Well they did make a few 2007 livery fire suits for him so how hard would it really be for him to hop in the car one day and give a little feedback? I can see how that would easily turn into, MS is developing the 2007 ect based on his popularity.

That's exactly what I was thinking, more just for fun than any type of development.

I obviously do not know either way, just thought it was a nice thought. If as some of you think it was just for fun, how long before the red mist descended and he tried to set a competitive lap time? After all those years i doubt he could help himself. Some of the quotes make him sound like its been 5 years since he raced...its not even 12 months!Prost took a year out after ferrari and came back and won the title for williams. He is not exactly gone to pot in the weight stakes either. For my two penneth, i would certainly put him in the car if he was willing."Should we let the 7 time champ have a drive and see if we are heading in the right direction or should we let massa tell us what he thinks and michael can sit on a locker and not contribute"

Not to mention that Ron Dennis called Prost to develop the Mclaren for the 1996 season. I don't think Mika and David liked sitting on the side lines and watching Alain turning laps lol. So this sort of thing has happened before.

James and Matt, good points, but i really doubt if MS could help develop the F2007. he mentioned himself that he's already outdated to the current things, so i don't really see him coming for tests and development.

however, like i mention earlier, there's a possibility of 'just for fun' thing. maybe he just wanted to test it out and see how the current racer feel.

altho, i would like to see him come back for 1 final season ;) , it's not gonna happen. i think he's already achieved a lot to make us happy. he should enjoy his retirement with Corinna and the kids :)

Schumacher will be heard from again. It may not be cars, but it will be something. He may live another 50 years with the shape he keeps himself in and the resources he has. He retired 15-20 years before most people reach their "peak earning years". With his competitive drive he may enter the corporate world, take up golf, who knows what. Think about the possibility of him buying his own F-1 team if he can line up the sponsors, and why would he not be able to.
