I'd love to just see the car in person if possible, before the lucky new owner takes possession. ~Bryan
Where did you get that it was a test car? There is no description? The "dealer" is not registered with DMV in Florida. In fact his "business" is run out of a appartment building on South Dixie Highway. From the obvious that he has no clue about what he is selling...., there are a hand full of dealers WORLDWIDE that deal in retired F1 cars. Here in the US you have Symbolic, there is a dealer in Germany and one in England. The owner either has no clue that this guy is advertising it on ebay of all places but if he finds out and has 5c of brain will realize that this guy is burning his car. These cars trade behind closed doors not on ebay. Just as a 333SP (you won't see the one we have even on our website) or a 250GTO.
The seller states in his description it's a car Eddie Irvine raced and was a test car for Schumacher. Whether that means he actually drove the car or not I don't know. From the ad.... F310 s/n 168 was raced by Eddie Irvine with a 3rd place podium finish in the Australian Grand Prix followed by a 7th at Brazil, a 5th at Argentina and a DNF at Monaco. F310 s/n 168 was then used as a test car for Ferrari's newest driver, Michael Schumacher, and is autographed by Schumacher. Edit: I see what you're saying, I was just hoping to actually see the car since it is so close. Would be the second F1 car I've seen in person since I've still yet to attend a race.
There is a person in SF that brought one of Schumakers cars to the Supercar weekend at the Polo Club, but this isnt the same car and the owner said he would never sell it. I think he said he paid about $1 million for it, so the car in the ad is overpriced since it doesnt have any documentation.
Mr. Fuchs paid a little more than just a Million but then not that much. At One Million the reserve for this car is not met. The car Mr. Fuchs has is a lot more valuable since it was an actual Championship winning car. If you want to see F1 cars come to the next opening race in Homestead for the Ferrari Challenge series. You will not just see one but 10+. There are others in Florida. Ch. Scardina Sen. bought one of the older F1s. there is a gentlemen in Orlando that owns two (the Alboreto and Alesi cars). Real price for thec ar offered is under $1M. More like $750K. Besides that you need a full crew just to get the car running....
Definitely try to make it to Homestead in February for the FXX / Challenge / F1 Cliente event. It is great fun and well worth the drive. Check back here in like January to look for the info. BT
I know of 4 Ferrari F1 cars in S. Florida, and this isn't one of them. As Martin says, this so-called "dealer" appears to be operating from a West Palm apartment building, so I'm a little sceptical. By the way, if anyone is interested in buying a relatively modern non-Ferrari F1 car, Pierre-Louis Moroni, who operates LRS Formula USA, plans in the not too distant future to offer for sale some of the cars they've acquired (or, as in the case of a couple of 2001-03 Williams cars, are in the process of acquiring). They appear to have the ability to maintain them, largely because they're mostly Cosworth-engined cars, although they have 2 or 3 Prosts with the Peugeot V-10. If you're considering this, I'd strongly suggest that you: (1) drive an F1 car first (believe me, it ain't as easy as it looks); and (2) factor in maintenance- Pierre tells me that with the redline dialed back 2,000 rpm or so they get approximately 1,000 miles between rebuilds on the Cosworths and 2,000 on the Peugeots- not for the faint of wallet!
The last few years you can buy a spectator pass for $15 that lets you go in the garages to see the cars up close and sit anywhere you want. just bring a small cooler for something to eat / drink. Last years event thread is here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=136154&highlight=fxx+homestead Put in "FXX homestead" in the search bar and you can find soe videos / pictures from the past few years. This particular car is being brokered by Sheehan, the ebay pics are straight off of his website... http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-F310-168
now that makes sense. Some kid in his house that thought, hey I simply steal those pictures and post it, maybe I can find an idiot on ebay.
Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention, some awesome pics and vids in just the thread from last years event. Baring death or serious illness I will definitely be attending next year. Scam's like that happen all the time in Supra community, I guess given the ad was on E-bay it should have been a tip off to me. It is sort of surprising, one would actually try to rip a person off using an F1 car. You would have to expect that anyone truly interested in buying a car like that is going to do their research first, and ask questions.
