not sure if this is true or false, but : http://f1.racing-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/060522102555.shtml
Well, British tabloids aren't know for being 100% truth. However, this sounds like something that could be true. MS said he would stay in F1 for as long as he can be competitive. Being at such a disadvantage to other teams because of tires would be very frustrating. So for him to say, "Fix the tires so I can have a chance, otherwise whats the point" sounds like not a bad position for him.
IMO, that comment might have made sense in 2005, but not so much this year. He has 2 victories, and stands 2nd in points (as does Ferrari), so I think he clearly "has a chance".
If true, that'd be a sad statement. I don't think he really said that, sounds too unsportsmanlike. Also it is hard to imagine, that BS would actually cave in to this. After all for them 2007 is going to be a big cost reducing exercise. The last thing they want is to cater to anybody. And quite frankly I don't see how Ferrari/Schumacher could exert pressure on them. They're gonna be a customer like everybody else. I think it is fair to predict at this moment, that the 2007 World Champion will be riding on Bridgestone tires. And that's all BS really cares about.
Like, no way! British 'loid guys are 100%... 100%... oh poppycock, they are 100% something alright. LOL
I think for 2007 tire rules needs to be change to 3 or 5 grooves - so everybody is even and gets a fresh start.
Sounds child-like to me, 2 wins and he 'doesn't have a chance ?'. I don't think tires caused him to be 2nd in points, A DNF did ????? F1 is NOT IROC, you create advantages to be faster and win, not to drone around with everyone else in-line, if you did, you would race nascar.
In my experience, British tabloids are about 99.99999% completely fabricated BS. The rest of the time they are right due to blind luck - just like how even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while. I am sure Schumi never said this and the fact that they are even saying it's dubious in the article means it must be a real slow news day
Michael Schumacher is one of the greatest racers of all time because he maximizes every possible competitive advantage of himself, his FERRARI, team and especially tyres to give him an advantage. Whether he said the quote or not, the tyres are the most important element on any racing car. It would only be natural to try and find an advantage with them. Cheers
Of course, but look at it this way: what if everyone else gave up and quit after Michael's steller years of 2003 and 2004, saying 'we have no chance' ?
to be honest, i don;t think ms said that. could be a misunderstanding or something. only JPM or fisi might have said that
Being from the Uk I can say that 'The Sunday people' is refered to as a comic and a gossip paper here, I wouldn't go by anything that comes out of there, all they are really interested in is which celeb is sh*gging who and which has a drinking problem to boost sales
