Not surprising, bike guys can usually drive cars very well but it doesn't work the other way around.

I'd like to see Hayden and Rossi do some laps in an F1 car, that could be very surprising.

Hayden and Michael Andretti traded rides once at Mid-Ohio i think, a couple of years ago. Hayden didn't do so well spinning the car. Mario once tried a world superbike once and went around laguna fast enough to quailfy for the race. I remember seeing the footage of that on an Indy pre race show. It was around 91 or so.

I think this is proof that Schumi is now considered expendable by Ferrari. Even NFL players have restrictions in their contracts restricting platers from riding motorcycles. ;)

Actually the Scuderia has always been very generous with what they allowed him to do. He is an active soccer player with a minor team in Switzerland and he skies and bikes (motorized and not).

I used to be nervous in particular about his soccer matches in the past.

I doubt he really pushed much, and please recall that when MS broke his leg and was sitting out letting it heal, that there was quite the row when JT called his house and MS' daughter answered "he's outside playing football". The whole race team management was up in arms over it, and I seriously doubt they would like to see him laid up.

Yeah it's a well known story, I heard it too. He didn't wanna be bothered with helping Irvine try to win the title. Ferrari made him come back. I'm sure he was secretly happy that Mika won that year.

While the other Mika gave his one and only victory to Irvine. Now THAT is a real guy.

Damon Hill was a past motorcycle racer. Of course, the best of motorcycle and auto racing was John Surtees. Perhaps Rossi might be able to match that, but past motorcycle GP champions have not done so well. Agostini briefly tried F1, and Mike Hailwood did okay.

I have to wonder what Ferrari are doing or planning with Rossi. His outing in a World Rally car (Peugot) resulted in a very mangled bit of metal. It would be nice to see him eventually transition and do well, but I would be surprised if he won F1 races.

    Ciao!

Michael has purchased 16 V-rods some he has given away and some he keeps at his different homes. He is a huge fans of Harley's and rides them whenever he can....

So I do not know if you were kidding, but the joke might be on you!

It is hard to imagine him on something from Orange County!

EVERY choice. Remember he was a stand in for one deal. It was unclear when the Schue would return. He could have easily taken the victory (Irvine was nowhere near), received the cold shoulder from the Scuderia and walk away. Instead he gave what would have been his one and only F1 and Ferrari victory to Irvine, got the applause from the Scuderia and walked away.

I heard he is around the factory sometimes to test some cars for them, but that's about it. Other drivers (e.g. Pironi) have broken gentlemen agreements without the blink of an eye.

True enough, but how was he to know that it would be his only shot at a win. He ran flawlessly in that race and another top team should have been watching. He was probably trying to impress someone with his professionalism and speed. He shouldn't have bothered
