Maybe and maybe not. But one thing is for certain tho, chances of Schumacher coming back to F1 will forever be greater than Senna winning his 4th title. Give it a rest Ted, enough is enough.
Michael is retired. Has been for a while now. It is absolutely unnecessary for the press to track all the things Schumi won't be doing. "Schumacher won't scuba dive the great barrier reef with pork chops strapped to his nuts!" Here's a shocker to those of you who lay in bed at night praying to your maker that he makes a return to F1 (he won't): If Michael were to jump into the Ferrari right now and race side by side with Kimi and Flipper, the results may not turn out the way you assume they would. Yes, I know. Neither of the current drivers could sniff Michael's undies if they used a step ladder. But they are in F1 racing shape, and have a much more intimate familiarity with the current chassis. Michael was great, is great and always will be great. But could we PLEASE let go a little bit? "Schumacher won't audition for Blue Man Group."
What does that have to do with what I said? I was using the fact that a few folks here have offered the excuse that Schumacher quit F1 becuase of the urgings of his family. How that jibes with his testing the Ferrari, racing motorcycles and all the other equally risky activities he has involved himself with since leaving F1 has not been adequately explained. My personal feeling is that Schumacher didn't leave Formula 1 willingly. He left because his attempts to keep Kimi out of the team failed and he was forced to choose between accepting a top-level driver as his teammate or retiring. As he was unwilling to drive alongside a top driver in equal machinery (as has been the case his entire career) he opted to retire. I seriously doubt that Schumacher would not want to return to F1 if he could (which means on his terms). Schumacher doesn't appear to be someone who willingly left the sport, like Hakkinan or Stewart. He looks more like the guy who was pushed out, like Mansell circa 1992. My guess is if Ferrari offered him his old seat back, with Massa as his co-driver, he would return in a heartbeat.
Regarding Olive Garden, I believe there was an official release on their homepage, www.crappyreplicaitalianfood.com. The diving story was cited by a respected British journalist. He overheard the conversation between two punters in a pub while vacationing in Sydney. According to sources, the two gentlemen continued their discussion with a vigorous round of "Would you rather...?" The founders of Blue Man Group denied having any discussions with Michael Schumacher, claiming he was actually contacted several months ago by a group with no affiliation whatsoever, BlauManSpiel. Apparently their show involves more dominatrix-style performances. At last report, they were in discussions with an as-yet unnamed but high-ranking figure within Formula 1.
IMO, both Ferrari drivers should be testing, and not Schumi. they're the one in the WDC race now. not MS.
Mike wont ever be allowed back into F1 unless he agrees to the scripted type seasons that are now unfolding. He wont and therefor he wont be back.
Granted both drivers should be getting as much testing as possible, but it is always fun to see MS behind the wheel, even if it is testing.
And where did the OP or the link say anything about Schumacher not returning to testing because of his family ?
Supposedly he is not racing anymore because of his family, so therefore he must not be testing because of them, too...if the excuses are true.
*LOL* Got to hand it to you, only you can add 1 + 1 and come up with 3 when it comes to matters regarding M. Schumacher. So you now think testing a car is the same as racing a car ? For whatever reason, he is retired from F1 racing. Just accept it and let it go already.
Actually if you look at the statistics drivers are much more likely to have a big accident in testing than in a race. They're testing new and unproven equipment usually as hard as it can be pushed. Races require you to finish. You can't do that if you've stuffed it into the tire wall. But, testing often requires the driver to go over the limit to find where the limit actually is. Take look at how many big off's say Lewis Hamilton has in testing and practice compared to the races. The vast majority are in the former rather than the latter. Kimi as well.
Ask Manfred Winkelhock or Mark Donahue fi they think testing an F1 car is the same as racing one. Ask Jimmy Clark if he thinks racing an F2 car is the same as racing an F1 car? I don't care that Schumacher is retired, frankly I think the sport is the better for it. Take a look at how many threads there are about Schumacher. Quite a few. Then count how many were started by me. None.
Ted, I'm having a hard time remembering correctly. Was the family retirement excuse something Schumacher used, the team used, or just people on this board? I don't agree either but I just can't remember where it originated.
