well, we all saw that ferrari have taken a step forward in brazil. now it's comin 2 suzuka, and i seriously think schumi will be super fast in japan, this is down to the esses in the first few corners. a superbly taken line thru the esses, proper balancing, with the brake and throttle, that will produce an ultimate lap in suzuka...somethin schumi is very good at. just always remember that he's always good thru esses, but thats where kimi fails...kimi's record in suzuka is pretty unimpressive, not sure bout the new champ tho. but anyways, i have a strong feeling that ferrari and michael will be strong there. lets not forget rubens as well...remember on '03? one of his finest victory. well anyways, it's just a thought...hopefully it'll all come well for ferrari..

Schumi will do only as well if the car is fast or if there is rain forecasted.

The points you refered to is what differentiates him from Barrichello - it may add up to a few tenths max. But if the car is 8 tenths slower anyway it may amount to a hill of beans

I do really give many of you credit for how you continue to hope and wave the Ferrari flag.

I'll always be a Ferrari fan, but I've long given up on Ferrari this season. If they do pull something out of their backside, my only interest is that it shows they are finally getting to know this car ... I just hope that they have learnt what NOT to do for next years car.

As Ferrari have said this car is flawed ... so they need to change direction for next year.

Next year hopefully will see and even closer WC :) :)

The real potential of the car hasn't been seen yet. In Brazil, the F2005 had the 2004 tyres with the required modifications and look how we did. We were on the pace of a heavily updated Renault R25.

I still beleive we have a very fast car, faster than the Renault's and maybe as fast as the McLaren's. The 2005 spec tyres Bridgestone are crap.

What about those Super Tyres we were suppose to get in Brazil?
    Never happened.
MS will test these tyres at Fiorano this week and I heard they will use them in Japan and China.

The tyres we're talking about are those that put Michael on pole in Hungary but we're hopellesly bad during the race. Hopefully Bridgestone found something for this.

I really hope that Ferrari and Bridgestone get as much data and test time they need the last races and the off season. This past year was exactly what F1 and all anti Ferrari fans wanted, so now pick yourselves back up like a premier F1 team should and be THE team to be reckoned with. Everone else got a laugh at Ferrari's struggles this season but only because thay smelled their fumes for the past few seasons. I don't like to see the repetitive dominance no more than the next guy but both the FIA has some work to do (stupid tire rules and double duty engines) as well as Ferrari and Bridgestone to make F1 truly a specticale once again. I think that Ferrari and Mclaren both had better sort thier issues and give us the opportunity to see Kimi and MSC fight for the top spot all next season.

THAT will be a season for the books.

    It's cute isn't it?

Several weeks ago I read an interview with MS and he stated, that they have long given up hope on this year and are working on next year's car. I was relieved to hear that: That's the right attitude. Mothball the POS 2005 Ferrari and move on.

I'm certain next year's changes with the new engines will create enough turmoil to shuffle all the cards afresh.

Didn't they use last year's spec tire for Brazil ? MS gets 4th ahead of Fisi and a fastest lap only 6/10th's down from the McL's. Along with the fastest trap speed it seems that it is more a problem with the tires than the chassis.

Don't want to spoil your optimistic view, but the team realised some months ago that this season is completely lost and that improving the 2005 car is a waste of time. Hopefully they put all their effort in the 2006 car. F1 history tells us that any time there is a new engine rule, Ferrari is on top!

Really, what history was this? Last i remember when the turbos was scrapped in favor to naturally aspirated, honda remained on top. It was the best turbo engine then became the best V10 engine. Same with Renualt when they lowered the displacement. To what history do you refer?

Not in recent years at least. They were one of the last teams to jump onto the turbo band waggon (and struggled for years to get it right). Thereafter it took them years again to get the NA V10 right.

However I do think that next year will cause dramatic changes. Engines are one, but that will also force entirely new chassis. And with more teams on BS, the tire poker cards will get newly distributed as well. Finally we'll probably see some different rules in regards to qualifying. In short: All bets are off.

    Read my post..
''In Brazil the F2005 had the 2004 tyres with the required modifications.''
    so yes they did...

But Ferrari were suppose to race with the new Bridgestone (super tyres) that Gene tested 3 weeks ago. Now MS is suppose to test these tyres this week at Paul Richard not Fiorano and they should be ready to go for Japan and China.

super tyres = tyres that put Michael on pole in Hungary but we're hopellesly bad during the race. Right now Bridgestone are trying to improve those tyres.

Heck..even Jordan and Minardi are using the 2004 tyres..

"Jean Todt revealed that Jordan and Minardi drive with 2004 tyres. Brawn already wondered why these two teams have come so close to Ferrari this year."

    2005 BS tyres are hopeless..

That was particularly visible in the US Grand Prix where no other team managed to get in between the Ferraris, Jordans and the Minardis.

Yep, you'r right, a looong time ago. It happened when F1 switched from 4.5 litre aspirated (or 1.5 litre supercharged) to 2 litre in 1952 (2 championships for Ascari). It happened again in 1961 when they went to 1.5 litre engines (1961, Phil Hill) and should have happened again in 1966 (back to 3 litres, John Surtees). When the change came from 3 litre aspirated to 1.5 litre Turbo (early 80's) Ferrari was on top (1981 and 1982 the team was world champion).

New engine rules favour excellent enigine builders! Of course it will be more difficult newxt year because also BMW, Renault and Honda know how to build a decent engine (and they don;t have to build the whole car).

It did rain last year IIRC, seem to remember Sato gloriously exiting in a pirouette in one of the chicanes during qualifying.

    If it's wet, anything's possible...
