hasn't he already said he won't do ovals?

still might be interesting to see him do some of the big road/street races (Long Beach, etc)

One question.....who is going to pay his salary? He doesn't work for peanuts and Indy Car can't draw major sponsors. Seems like he would be better suited to LeMans and some of the high tariff teams who can afford his retainer.

It would be great to see Schumi at LeMans although I recall him saying that it was still too dangerous

MS did say several years ago on 60 Minutes or 20/20 that he thought ovals were too dangerous. However, even if he's tempted now, I don't see it happening. He would have to move to the US which I don't see happening.

If I had his $$$$ I'd relax and run my own team, trying to develop drivers *I* think will do well. I know you can get killed walking across the street, but he's at the age where why would you want to tempt fate? I know the answer, but geez, he raced to win, he forced people to pay him a LOT of money, so what good is it if you are in the prime of your life and can't or won't spend it????

He may not wish to do that. He still may prefer to drive. His talent is still there and he is fit.Mario Andretti raced well into his late 50's so Schumi can stand a few more years if he chooses. I think that part is really what he will think about in the weeks ahead.

I hope retires safely and enjoys his life, the most successful F1 Driver should retire with Dignity, and with no disrespect to Indycar, but not go to a second rate series.

I hate to see him leave F1 but hopefully he will stay involved with the sport. Maybe become a consultant for Ferrari?
If not, he should fully retire and spend time with his family.

I know I am the OP, but I don't think it will happen full time. It would be cool to see him come run Watkins Glen and Long Beach but he would need some seat time to get used to the lack of braking compared to F1 cars.

Best idea for him is to retire and every now and then hop in a DTM seat at some of the German circuits to have some fun with cool cars.

I bet if you told Schumi how much some of those NASCAR guys earn he'd change his mind :)

I think he should start up his own coaching academy or a management firm to manage drivers.

How about he develops a prototype car and team for Ferrari to win LeMans overall for first time in 57? years.
