I've been watching this all morning. They've jumped from most powerful, to most luxurious, to smallest, now it's Best Supercar. #5 - Porsche Carrera GT, why not #1? Oh, it's ugly. #4 - Ferrari F40, why not #1? Oh, it's ugly. #3 - Mercedes 300SL Gullwing #2 - Lamborghini Miura, why not #1? Crappy driving position, fire prone. #1 - McLaren F1 (of course) There was something that had the Daytona spider as a contestant, and they called it 'the last beautiful Ferrari ever built' Blasphemous! This show keeps making me go 'Wha-wha-WHAAT!?' The selections they make for the top 5 of each category have these overwhelming shortcomings that other cars in the category they failed to include didn't have, each category I could easily and quickly muster up seven or eight cars that would have better fit. I recommend watching the show just so you can scoff at it.
Even worse than the selection of cars, is the people that they are interviewing. The short haired lady needs to stop talking... I also don't think I agree with the CGT and F40 being called ugly.
Cool show, but only because these type's of programs are uncommon. I definitely don't agree with their "top 5" choices. Carrera GT is an awesome performer, but while it looks great, it just looks too much like a big Boxster. F40 in regular US trim could look a little better. 18" Enkei's, larger front lip, and carbon wing would put it right behind the Mc F1. #2 and #3 are a joke IMO as far as supercars go. Cool in their times, and now just great classics.
WTF???? At the French Quarter Classic I drooled for goodness knows how long at that car. And yes, a carbon wing with 18in wheels and a lip makes that car mean as hell, which was why I was drooling.
Frankly, Yes I have. I have only owned one Porsche (never again). The F40 is better looking than the Enzo (also seen up close and personal). However, the body was carbon fiber and appeared rough both to the eye and the touch. Certainly not luxurious vis-a-vis a 575M. But then, there is no accounting for taste. Just my opinion.
It's basically a racecar parred down a notch or two for street use, and so most people view the carbon kevlar body and the fact that you can see the weave through the paint as one of its better attributes, as well as the fact that the interior is bare basics. The 575M is a completely different car with a completely different statement. The F40 is beautiful because it's badass.
OMG YES! That lady is one of the WORST people "car" people I've ever seen. I almost lost it when they put the Aston Martin DB9 as the best convertible ever. Are you kidding me? Cali Spyder people!
Whaaaat? How is it that the Mercedes 300SL and the Lamborghini Miura beat the Ferrari F40 in terms of "Super Cars". They are very nice classic cars that I personally like, but they shouldn't even be on the list. The F40 is such a beautiful and amazing car in person, in both looks and performance. It should have easily been #2. When I saw the F40 for the first time in person, I was left in pure amazement. Though I have never seen a Carrera GT up close, from what I have seen it is definitely not ugly.
comparing an F40 to a 575 is like comparing a 575 to an H2 then saying, "Oh well, the H2 is better bcus the 575 doesnt have a lot of luggage room" The F40 is a race car for the street as well as a classic, the 575 is very nice but its no race car & its no classic either
The gal who mc's this program should be intimately familiar with the word "ugly". All she has to do is look in the mirror.
CGT: Ugly as hell, let's be honest. A 997 looks better. F40: Looks like Volvo 740 designers made it. Straight lines, 90 degree angles. Yep, ugly.
1) McLaren F1/LM 2) F40/ LM 3) Enzo/FXX 4) Maserati MC12/ Corsa 5) F50/ F50 GT 6) Konseigg/ CCX 7) Pagani Zonda/ F 8) Saleen S7/ Twin Turbo The 300SL is a supercar, since when???
I didn't catch the show and don't plan on it after seeing that list. I don't know how old this program was, but a CGT on the list over the Zonda, Veyron and Koenigsegg? Gimme a break.
I dont think that the F40's are ugly One of my friends dont like Ferraris, but he sad that he would take the F40 for a ride (or two ... or forever)
