    Sounds like a great job opening for the right person.
    Become the new Managing Editor for Sports Car Market magazine.

    Wouldn't it be great if a real Ferrari enthusiast got the job?!
    I think the job is based in Portland, OR.
    Not sure how the salary being offered lines up with an editor's job function.

    Managing Editor for the Industry-Leading Collector Car Magazine (NE 19th and Sandy)

    Portland OR. Sports Car Market Magazine, a 22-year-old Publishing Group, has an exciting opportunity for the right managing editor. SCM is about values, collecting and trends in the collector car world. If you have a love for cars, a love for editing and a passion for overseeing the creation and production of top-quality magazines, this is the perfect job for you.

    Sports Car Market magazine (www.sportscarmarket.com) is seeking a Managing Editor to assist in production, editing and management of Sports Car Market, Corvette Market (www.corvettemarket.com), Collector Car Price Guide in Conjunction with eBay Motors (www.collectorcarpricetracker.com) Supplements, E-Newsletters, and Web Posting and Editing. In addition to the core products SCM also produces custom publishing projects, both digitally and in print, for the Collector Car Community.

    You will report directly to Keith Martin, the founder and publisher of the company. In addition to overseeing Sports Car Market and Corvette Market, Martin has written for the New York Times, Autoweek, Automobile and Road and Track, and is the co-host of the television show “What’s My Car Worth?” This is a Discovery HD program.

    The SCM expectation is a very high level of writing, on time performance, and an exceptional attention to detail. The SCM and CM publications are the leaders in their field. Travel opportunities include auctions and concours throughout the United States, include the Pebble Beach Concours in Monterey, and the Amelia Island Concours in Florida.

    Responsibilities of a Managing Editor will include:
    • All matters pertaining to current issue in production, including making assignments, enforcing deadlines to ensure projects are published on schedule, and overseeing editorial budget to final approval of pages;
    • Working closely with the rest of the team, including development and production, to conceptualize and develop product;
    • Working closely with proofers to insure highest quality product; fact check relentlessly to insure accuracy of final product.
    • Maintaining an aggressive publication schedule;
    • Maintaining editorial guidelines and standards for internal and external use;
    • Creating and maintaining overall editorial calendar;
    • Assigning and editing various features;
    • Guide stories from inception through art and layout process;
    • Collaborating with all departments.

    Skills required:
    • 3-4 years print editorial experience;
    • Exceptional reporting, writing, and editing skills as demonstrated by extensive published newspaper / magazine articles;
    • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills;
    • Strong strategic planning skills;
    • Experience assigning and editing stories of various length;
    • Knowledge of competition, publishing and magazine business.
    • Strong computer skills including Excel and Word
    • Strong web research skills
    • Strong social networking skills, including posting to and maintaining blogs, Facebook postings, Twitter, etc.

    Keith Martin goes to my Starbucks most every morning. I saw him pull up in his Black Mercedes Ponton today. He is nice.

    I think they will have no trouble filling this job. Plenty of car guys will put pay secondary.
