American Scott Speed will drive the third Red Bull car at the Canadian and United States Grands Prix, the team confirmed on Friday.

The young GP2 driver impressed Red Bull in today's test at Silverstone and will get behind the wheel of the third car on Friday ahead of the Montreal and Indianapolis races.

"This is an incredible opportunity for me," said Speed. "Putting aside the fact that my second appearance at a grand prix will be in my homeland, it is really exciting to be driving an F1 car in front of a big crowd.

"I have never driven at either Montreal or Indy, so it will be a good experience for me. I don't know what to expect, but I am there to do a job, so I don't feel any extra pressure at the thought of the media interest that might come with it."

This has been decided for a long time, since his last test at Barcelona. They were just testing him to get seat time for the up coming events. Actually I saw on F1-live that he never got a chance to run at Silverstone.

Same times I saw on F1-live, but without Speed's lap time and he only did 18.

Hope he does well. It does give some hope for US drivers, but he is over 3 seconds behind the Scuderia. No time from MS though.
