Unfortunately, only now, after he is fired from F1, have I come to really appreciate this guy. His STR is crap. His driving has not really been bad at all. Not only is his car slow, its the most unreliable car on the grid. Its like the Mclarens of 2004 and 2003. The Nurburgring was the first DNF that was his fault, and he could do absolutely nothing about it, and neither could "good" drivers like Button, Rosberg, Hamilton, etc. These two @$$holes, Gerhard and Tost, sound like the realy problems. Berger seems like a wannabe who wasn't worth anything in his time as a driver, and should know what its like being in Scott's shoes. Whenever his STR works, he puts up decent results. In Spain he topped the Friday Practice Session Timesheets at one point, and wasn't running bad in the race until his tire exploded down the pit straight. He finished 9th in Monaco, the most challenging track. He also fought through ulcerative colitis to become an F1 driver, and if thats not dedication, I don't know what is. STR is a bull$**** team and I can't wait to see Vettel the hotshoe and Sebastien the whiner get the same results as Scott and Tonio. This really sucks. He was the only American in F1. I hope he ends up in a good seat somewhere else in F1, Hondo or Toyota would be great, Prodrive is probably out of the question, or somewhere like Champ or Indy. In a good car. I'd root for him.
is speed fired ? I just read on speedtv.com that he was testing the car and decided to quit testing due to low back pain. Brian
Scott isn't fired yet. they're just rumours. and like i've been saying, i personally think he and Tonio are doing a steady job. it's really the car actually.
According to this they couldn't reach a deal with Vettel, so Speed will drive in Hungary and Turkey... http://www.homeofsport.com/f1/news/item.aspx?id=19782 Personally I like Vettel and think he has a lot of potential, but I'd much rather see him in a BMW. Vettel driving a back of the pack POS STR car won't be good for his career.
