    Hey,

I thought someone would have been all over this - Scott reports "brake pedal going to the floor", engineer responds with "understood, keep pushing!"

My only conclusion is that the telemetry was telling the engineers that the pedal was *not* going to the floor - Unless they're trying to kill the guy - Which seems a little over the top even if they don't like him very much.....

More significantly though, I believe (possibly wrongly?) that the "team radio" is heavily censored and the teams control what can get broadcast - Are they trying to make Scott look like a complete plonker?

    Why?

Very odd IMHO - He either had his best ever run without brakes or he is indeed unable to tell when he has brakes - Which is almost as concerning :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

Somebody mentioned this before. I'm still wondering how Scott Speed without brakes in the Toro Rosso was competing with Kimi Raikkonem with brakes in a Ferrari.

Exactly my point! - Especially at Monaco, no brakes = retire [It's not like you can throw the car sideways to slow it down after all :) ]

I've got to assume that Scott simply "talks that way" and the team checked the data and saw no/only a minor problem. [Unless, as I said above, they *really* want to get rid of him :) ]

But still even more surprising to me is the fact that the team made the exchange public - Matchett was shocked into silence at the response - He never tires of reminding us that "in this situation it's the drivers call."

    Cheers,
    Ian

Speed commentators did have a little fun with: "fast with no brakes"; "well, there ya go". ;)

I think the engineer's comment referred to pumping the pedal.

I doubt anyone thought he was going to pass Kimi.

But it did sound funny over the radio. The radio people seemed to be in "double entendre mode" at Monaco: Like when they told Fisi(?) he had a "wall" behind him. It's Monaco. Of course there's a wall behind you. :p
(Hey, if you can't win, ya might as well have some fun.)

Perhaps the brakes were just damaged causing the pedal to go to the floor. I really want to see Scott get a point cause he think he's really improved this season no matter what his team is saying.

Well, the way he's pulled up the field at times I would tend to side with Speed. I think it would be interesting to see what he could do with a better car/team. At least he can thank his lucky stars he's not with those tail pipe cleaners called Spyker!
