Seriously--Speed's such a chooch. He just tries too hard to be the cool F1 racer, but he's really just Scott the nerd.
i agree ! I'am thinking this could be his last chance year in F1, he really does need to have an impressive season. There is just way to many young hot shots waiting in the wings, let alone Sebastian Bourdais would is planning a switch to F1 in 2008 !!
Well you made it sound like your point was that he was trying to act a specific way "the cool F1 racer", to which I responded that he was just being himself. Now we both agree that he's a bit of a nerd, but i'd prefer someone acting themselves instead of trying to emulate the typical "we had a great car today, I have to thank the team" johnny racer archetype.
He also did like 3 times as many laps. It's also known that the RB3 isn't living up to outsiders expectations, and needs more work. Then again, it appears that both Honda and Toyota are in the same boat.
I find it so funny, Speed trys so hard to be a "cool guy", but he's by far the most un-cool driver in F1, followed secondly by his team mate Liuzzi ! Speed acts like a 14 year old boy at a party with no alcohol or girls ! And Liuzzi dresses like a rapper doing Karaoke ! I always wonder how long he has spent in front of the mirror making sure making his cap is tilted exactly far enough to look cool!
I spoke with a girl here in town that went to school with Scott, he is just someone who is a little bit on the goofy humor side. He was always trying to be funny. My response to the video is just that he was trying to do the same when he was approaching the camera, and the others were just going along with it. In other words - IT WAS PLANNED! Last year at INDY, I was the last person in line to get his signature, got a family photo with him, his parents and I. After that he was back to his usual goofy humor.
LOL! Yeah it's kind of sad that he got his seat in F1 because of his name/looks. Supposedly there were guys who beat Scott in the whole RedBull talent search, but were considered less marketable due to their appearance and name, so Scott got picked. I still think Bourdais would do a better job.
