I will be there - old school, polo red '67 911S. I'm looking for a 360 Spyder, Rossa Corsa/Beige, F1 - just in case anyone has an extra in the garage.
I bailed before Tilted Kilt, but here are some of my images: The 348 was supposed to be of the Ferrari lineup, but it didn't turn out wonderful, so it just looks like a Mini 348 & I'm guessing the 911 GT(2) is a replica/add ons. Very good amount for a couple of hours. Thanks to all those that donated to the Lt. Shuhandler family. Everyone I talked to said he was a great guy AND a car enthusiast as well. Dont forget the Scottsdale Auto salon benefit for his family on Wednesday!!!
Jim, You don't mess around!!! Those were two of the coolest and rare cars to ever show up to our event. Thanks for getting them out. Let me know how the drive home in the XK SS was Somebody please post some pics of those two!
Thanks, were you in the Stradale? Mark, I'm using my knowledge D) and guessing this beautiful car is yours: http://www.flickr.com/photos/agup627/4335896891/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
Glad you enjoyed them, it was a blast. The true thanks goes to the owner of the cars for bringing them out. I was just a driver. The C-Type is the easier of the two cars to drive, the XKSS is more difficult. It has the triple disc racing clutch and a first gear that you would swear was second. Getting it started off the line is tricky. You have to let the clutch out fairly quickly, slipping it burns it up. But once you are moving it is awsome. Its like the C-type on speed. More power, stronger brakes and a close ratio gearbox make it feel more alive and also make it hard to keep the speed to a resonable level. Both of them are great. Several people asked, but for those wondering they made approximately 54 C-Types and 16 XKSS's. The C-Type was made for running 24 hrs of LeMans... it won. Then they made the D-Type (it was the first to use disc brakes) and they won several more times. Towards the end of production they had a hard time selling D-Types so they put bumpers, a windshield, a top, and a luggage rack on it and called it a XKSS. They made / converted 16 cars before the factory burned down in the late 50's. I did not get a chance to take many photos, below is a couple I took. I enjoyed the view from the drivers seat (couldn't resist taking a photo). Also below is a photo from one of our tours last April. Today's C-Type is the fourth one in the line up. Had a great time today at the C&C and the Tilted Kilt. Lots of cool cars and people out there. Great to see we could help a fallen officer and his family! Look forward the next outing and seeing more pics of today's event. Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday. Eron
Here are some of the Lambo pics I took at the C & C and at the "Kilt". Also, a short video of the overall look at Scottsdale Cars & Coffee! Our largest turnout yet, it appeared to me!!!! WOW, that last photo is over the top (and must've been a fun day). So the car I saw on the backroads in Tucson was the XKSS and not a "regular" D?
Anybody get the license number of the car that hit my 348? Our 348's just don't get any respect! Although not as bad as what LdM has spewed at our cars.
Jeff, Thanks for doing the video. From all reports it was our biggest C&C to date with over 200 cars being reported that day. Cars were double parked, adjoining lots full etc..
Yeah, those are fun trips. If I remember right you saw a blue one on a trailer. That was a D-Type like number 12 in front. There was a XKSS on the Tucson trip but not the same car that was at cars and coffee. Cheers Jim
Yes, it was blue and did have the typical D wing (from what I recall). I was pretty sure I saw a D-type, but the comment you made earlier about them converting several over to XKSS was something I didn't know. Learned something new! Well, now, you just took it to a whole new level with the XKSS. Rock on!
