So I caught my first rock chip about half way up the hood yesterday.....ugh. My color is Rosso Corsa, luckily it does have a clear wrap all over the front and on magnification it doesn't seem to have chipped the paint, but it dug a big gouge in the film that is quite noticeable. What are my options? Do I have to remove the whole hood film and reapply? I'd obviously like an easier option. I looked around but couldn't find anything that may be used as filler. thanks for any ideas!
Do you know what brand/model of film is applied to the car? I have Expel Ultimate/Stealth self-healing film on my 360 Spider and I repaired an area where a stone sliced through the film by applying heat from a hairdryer. If it is an older version of non-self healing all of my friends with this type have had to replace the film on the panel.
Even if you don't have the latest film, reach out to your installer and I'm sure they would work a favor out for you. Repeat customer is huge.
Same as boobernackle said, I just got rocked twice yesterday out in the oil fields on my RR. Lost two letters off the front and have a rock ding with some paint chipped off and the paint protection film gouged. The installer said when chips happen and the hair dryer won't reseal the damage to the film that he can try to patch it but will replace that piece for materials only otherwise.
thanks for the ideas! The film was applied 2012 by prior owner, though I don't know the installer. I guess Ill bring it by a place in town to see what he thinks.
Ive seen in person a BMW that had Xpel on it. The bumper had deep scratches on the bumper. Film taken off and there was ZERO damage. Film reapplied.
