The poor security comes from the government. They won't help insure these things. In Canada we insure some, not all works of art. How is one house going to pay insurance on a 50M item? In most places it's gonna happen. It's too bad but hey, chances are it was a "job" and is in a private collection now. We may see it again.
Perfect! ___________________________ I would imagine it is hanging on a wall somewhere in Russia by now. DL
The biggest joke of all is the museum was insured for almost anything but theft, can you believe it??? Let's see, thefts from art-museums is as unusual as honest politicians, right? Hilarious! /Peter
The paintings would cost about 3 MILLION norwegian crowns (428.969,75 USD) to insure each year - something they could not afford(!) they are ONLY insured for fire and water damage. and BTW, SCREAM is worth over 72 MILLION USD!
Think about this....IF they had an insurance on the painting for theft.....how can those insurance money help you?????? buy another one??????? So its actually "pointless" to insure this painting....no money will bring it back. I hope you understand the way I think here. And according to the boss at the museum, this was the reason why they didnt have theft insurance on the painting(s)
With the insurance money you could buy other works. It would be a loss, but the wall would have something on it after the cheque came in. Not much help, buy what can you do? Hire guards? For 8 bucks an hour? They would be more likely to steal it! I'll whip somthing up and send it to them.
Edward Munch made four different versions of scream and five different versions of madonna. With the insurance money, maybe they could've bought one of those... /Peter
