    Hi all,

so when I removed the door cards there are 4 small diameter screws that went through the carpet on the door card, through the card, and into the door metal. Is this as the factory did it or was this done by the PO likely to support the speaker he installed?

    Thanks!

If you have the door card installed in the correct position the holes are pretty easy to line up. Just put the screws in straight and it they don't find the holes wiggle them around a little. And don't over tighten or they will pull out.

Having owned (old) BMW's for the last 28 years, with their myriad of hidden screws and clever clips to hold the various trim pieces on, it's quite surprising to see how Ferrari build their interiors by simply running screws so blatantly straight through trim pieces - Dare I say, almost kit-car like!

Another surprise is how few screws they then tend to use to hold the interior on with (the entire centre console in My 348 is held in by 4 screws - And two of those are the gear-gate screws!).

The biggest surprise of all though is how few rattles and creaks are generated with so little holding everything in.

My BMW's have pretty much all had various rattles and creaks from the interior trim, some of which were impossible to track down, but My Ferrari doesn't make a single noise - Even when some of the screws come loose!

In My experience, the BMW method looks tidier, but the Ferrari method seems to work better! (Of course, I might just have got lucky with My Ferrari interior and it's lack of creaks and rattles. :) )
