...just curious to see what others think as to what will happen to future values of GOOD UNMOLESTED sc's and 3.2's as they seem low in value now...as the years go on will they become the "new" long hood very collectible and valuable cars to collect ,cheers!

I think the sweet, free revving SC will be the one to have.

SC prices have gone up significantly already in the last couple years... I keep having to increase my insurance.

SC's are slightly more finicky to maintain since they have a host of complex, pre-electronics electro-mechanical systems which can be difficult to service and diagnose. But: I think for all the reasons that became gospel due to the evangelism of Bruce Anderson, the SC will be a long term star in the collectible Porsche canon: It has a purity of execution that connects it to the long hood cars, very light weight, but the completely bulletproof wildly understressed 3.0 case developed for the turbo.
Of the 4-5 I've owned, I miss the white '78 with cork seats with tartan inserts and no sunroof. Weighted about 2500lbs.

I'm keeping my 1982 sc coupe as it is the greatest car ever made! Lol seriously no car I have ever driven has ever made me feel so connected to the road. Awesome rides w/o all the electronic bs, and after the magnesium case 2.7 liter debacle the aluminum 3 liter was waaayyyyyy over engineered. Wouldn't mind picking up a late model 964 as a dd as they are more comfy but retain the classic shape.

Had a 1983 S/C coupe for 9 years (bought it when it was a few years old). Really attached to it. But the 3.2 was always the car I would catch myself admiring while I owned it. Years & years later I now have gotten my Son a 1986 3.2 coupe to tinker with. Another great car.

Bruce Anderson always said "buy the newest version you can afford" and I think he was correct.

As to the OP's question, I think a lot of younger enthusiasts the 1965-89 911's and variants look very much the same. Like 356's look the same to many and the difference between a 356 normal or SC is not as important as the condition and prices reflect that. So IMO the later 911's (74-89)will rise in price because many people will get that early classic 911 Porsche look and not really care if it is a Long hood or early S as much.
Bruce Anderson remark is correct for buying a used car but we are not talking about used cars any more, with 65-89 911's they have entered the collectable car world and price are not determined by HP. and AC or drivability much any more.

The '65-'73 cars are already on another planet in terms of values/collectibility.

I think SCs and 3.2s will see their day, if only because the long hood 911s have already taken off, value-wise. However they are they pretty common so I wouldn't expect a steep rise (other than the 930s, which are special icons).

the 3.0 and 3,2's are on the rise as we speak. they are both fantastic cars and are also both bulletproof. the 3.2 feels a good bit stronger...I owned a M491 for 7 years. I literally tried to break it each day but to no avail. the car was just too good!

buy a good to great one while you can still get them at a relative bargain. they are special cars if you ask me!!

I'd love to have a 3.2 coupe with a G50 5-speed. timeless classic and as you say, bulletproof.

they've started to appreciate a bit, I think long term they will be nice investments.

That is my point, with the 65-73 cars on another planet price wise people who want to get in on the 911 game will buy 3.0-3.2 with the idea that they are almost the same for a lot less money. Which will drive the price up.

Bought a 3.0SC racecar today: clone of one I raced in the 90's. Looking forward to getting re-acquainted. Don't lift in corners, is the rule, as I recall.

Very well put. You are absolutely right. When Bruce said that (for years & years) he was talking used cars. Where of course now they are more semi-collectible cars.

However, with that said. The 3.2 does still offer more for the senses. I luv-luv the S/C - but the 3.2 is really just a better S/C.

The 3.2 is better than the SC ..... only if you like your 911 heavier and a bit less free revving. :)

I've had both and I prefer the lightness of the SC. The Carrera has more power and is smoother, but it drives heavy. The same thing goes for the 3.0 and 3.3 turbos. I prefer my 3.0 over the 3.3 turbos I've had, for the same reason.

Best buy is a ROW model 3.2. Most powerfull interation of SC or Carrera plus lighter than a US model with better gearing. If you can find an 1984 ROW it is probably the best year as it also still has the SC interior with the classic sport seats.

Having said that both SC's and 3.2's will appreciate significantly. Its already very hard to find a great one.

The 1982 911 sc coupe in chiffon white is the greatest car ever made; there is NONE higher. :)
