    Hi guys

I loved my front DRLs from Stef so i ordered the complete rear LED light kit including 3rd light in middle. Finished installing all but 3rd light not working. I verified oem worked b4 i did the install. I also sanded the contact points fir ground wire and the magnetic piece top n bottom. Am i missing anything??? Do i need to program the light ecu somehow? I emailed stef for help but want others opinions also. Thanks in advance.

I put in the 3rd light, didn't have to program anything. I'd test the power supply wire to see if you have voltage, if not could be ground connection or blown fuse.

Is the engine lid closed properly?

There seems to be a contact point between the body and the tail light wiring (15L and 18L).

    Also check the ground (17L)

Yep all good. I even sanded the contact points. Going to add external 12N power to test the light.

External power lights it up although rapid blinking occurs. Reinstalled into F430, no go. Reinstalled OEM 3rd light, it lights up. IF OEM lights up, this means the Scud Ing light ecu is good and all connections must be good. Why then does new Scud Ing LED 3rd light not work? Is it more power hungry? Getting close to giving up. Stef from Scud Ing wants me test using wire in between spring contacts. This may be the last thing i try. I predict no go.

Get a 12 v battery and electronic jumper cables to hook it all up according to wiring diagram and small switch and re program the 3rd light . If it is rapidly flashing it probably needs to be reprogrammed. Make sure it is working correctly on bench top and when satisfied all working then transfer the module and light to engine lid. Double check polarity and make sure you are wiring it correctly. Remove the small programming switch. It should work fine if it was working correctly on benchtop.

The ground contact is the bare spot to right of lid locking mechanism. If OEM works power and ground are good. Stef put up a video on programming the 3rd light. Get some flexible heat shielding for the module.

Just wondering how the engine lid is earthed to the chassis on the F430. Is there a strap or is it done via the metal hinges or latch? The Scud-Ing assembly might need a better earth than the standard light.

You can use a 9V battery to program the flashing 3rd brake light. But unless you want to change the default flashing its not necessary to program it. Mine worked out of the box and I only reprogrammed it to change the number of flashes as I wanted more from the default.

There is a spring loaded pin on the engine lid that makes physical contact with the main chassis when it is closed. It is Located just to the right of the locking latch and makes ground contact on the bare spot on the latch housing.

All is good guys. Sorry thought i updated the thread. Reinstalled oem and it worked fine. I noticed oem connector to magetic latch on rear deck was significantly tighter than the Scud Ing one. I used pair of pliers to crimp down the new female plug more. Reinstalled new led 3rd light and Voila! Works like a charm! Had to be the connection wasnt tight enough? Heres a video. Sorry dont know how to post pics on here.
