    You can also drive a thing with 30k miles. Remember, low mileage does not necessarily mean better condition, just take a close look. These cars are at least 12 years old, too less miles/year can be quite damaging.

    seems like a really awesome car! Good luck on the hunt. If you are coming from a 997 GT3 you’ll probably love a scud. There’s some aspects of GT3 ownership which I still prefer. Manual mezger is just awesome. But the Scud will blow the doors off the GT3 in a straight line and also it’s even more raw, visceral and exciting. Not a great daily or semi-daily LOL but certainly an amazing addition to any collection. Good luck on the hunt. That’s the best part.

    Suspension-wise, I think the Scud is superb on the road ... even as a daily. Especially on sport mode. It's the SF2 transmission and initial grab of the ceramic brakes that takes a toll on you. Exhaust with the valve setup is tolerable too :).

    I agree with you. The suspension is totally livable. The only reason I would hesitate to daily is because the car is loud (and I'm not talking about exhaust volume here, the valve system makes exhaust volume easy to manage if necessary). Rather, I'm talking about all the little stuff. You hear creaks, buzzes, bumps, clunks, and little rocks hits on the underside you would never hear in a "normal" car. Its not a fault of the car, however...its by design. If you stripped out the carpets and sound deadening from a Lexus and replaced the hood with a plexiglass cover, I'm sure the situation would be similar! Its part of the charm/experience/theater of the car, but could become tiring day-in-day out. For example, I took my daughter out yesterday and was going crazy trying to locate an annoying "pinging and sliding" noise I couldn't' identify. Turned out the tread on my shoe picked up a little pebble that was getting tossed about the floorboard. If I had carpeting it would have been silent and would have probably remained there for years LOL.

    I love gt3's and have owned many (including 997's and my current highly modded 996). People call mezger gt3's "raw" and a "race car for the street" all the time, but I'm telling you, those cliche descriptions don't sound even remotely applicable if you have had the good fortune to experience a scud. I have thought about it, and I don't think there is a single production car that even approaches the "race car feel" or overall experience of a 430 scuderia (I think the closest is probably a lotus elise/exige), especially when you factor in the insanely responsive engine and shifting characteristics. I think this is the main reason they are not 400k now...they are just saw crazy that most well-heeled Ferrari customers probably prefer something a little more civilized. It is not uncommon to have new passengers in my car exit and simply say "Oh My G__! Have you ever been in street car that had been gutted and prepped for the track? You know all the extra noises and buzzes and vibrations you experience? That is a scud!

    I had a highly modified naturally aspirated Exige. The Exige is raw and analog, but not as intense. It's still a momentum car with minimal power. I enjoy them both almost equally. Mainly because the Exige is manual with a manual steering rack and ridiculously light. With the Scud everything hits like lightning with some force. You feel its sharp engagement. Exige isn't like that. Brakes, shifts, engine sound, engine power. The intensity is many more times the Exige. To top it off, the Scud surprisingly drives very go-kart like. It's almost like the Exige, but tighter and better build quality.

    I think the S2000 is closer to the Scud than the Exige. Very raw and visceral with a manual gearbox. Power isn't there, but everything else is. I'm hoping my 355 will come close when it is all said and done.

    thanks! My GT3 was my track car with full monoball suspension, coilovers, cup exhaust etc. I thought the car was quite raw/visceral until I drove my buddies Scud. What an exciting car to drive even at slow speeds. Looking forward to eventually owning one if the right example is available in my price range.

    awesome...then you know! Truly great cars and contrary to some opinions, I do believe they will rise in value (it is a "low production" Ferrari, after all, that is still fast by today's standards). Good luck and keep us posted.

    I have said this a few times; I had a leak from the oil/coolant pump. It’s a 6,500k cost plus labor. Make sure during the ppi that it’s checked.
    On road noise I believe they used plastic liners in the front wheel wells. The Pista uses a felt like liner and noise is not as bad. Scud has considerable structural integrity i.e fenders and body integrity. It’s a car that enthusiasts will appreciate over time. If you can pick one up at a good price,it could be a good keeper for you.

    At 20k mi, you probably need to change out a majority of the bushings on a Scud. Damper, arms, engine mounts etc... The car is so visceral all these bushes get eaten up pretty quickly. Change it all out the car is much more road compliant and actually very pleasurable to ride in. Tight, but smooth. Go with an OE/ Hill Engineering combo.

    This is a great point. I've tackled the upper and lower shock mount/bushings on my car, but I've yet to tackle the ball joints or "flanblocks" and the like. I need to do that and bet it would improve the NVH of my car a fair amount.

    The monoball bushing on the lower Sachs damper , which is the exact same bushing on a 355 damper … that bushing RARELY goes bad on a 355. I have 2 355s with 30k mi and so far , the ones I’ve checked looked 75% new. All 4 corners were bad on my Scud with only 26k mi. That should go to show how intense the Scud is for even OE monoball bushings.


    I’m confident you’ll see the Scud in a whole new light with all the suspension bushings changed out to new.

    all the cars on the public channels have been sitting at these prices, they arent miles off, but I dont know of anyone who in the last 3 years paid 244k for a 8k mile scud and I have done a fair amount of research on it.

    If Anyone is considering a Scud, I’d spend a bit more and get a 16M. It is a limited production car, 499 total. The prices are crazy low on these cars right now onside ring the current exotic market and limited number builds fair well over time. Also, with the Scuds, many were purchased for track cars, so you really don’t know what you are getting into. The 16M on the other hand, were not typically purchased for the track.

    Regardless, I think the Scud and 16M are the greatest road cars Ferrari has ever produced (haters please refrain, it is a personal opinion). I have a 16M, and I will NEVER sell that car. Everyone I know who has one says the same.

    not surprising. With 360CS well over $250k now for a good car, good Scuds should be at least $225k.

    09 Scuds with below 20K miles in one of the right colors and all the right options will go to 250K or maybe higher within 2 to 3 years, imho. It is still underappreciated. Some would argue that only die hard fans will appreciate a sportscar that is much slower and less refined than today's models. I like it more than the newer models when it comes to the experience but I only use it as a weekend fun vehicle. Will be interesting to talk again in 2 to 3 years. :)
