IMO it isn't even about just how fast the trans shifts.. It's actually a very engaging transmission. It feels very manual. It's also an exhilarating feeling shifting the scud. I guess what I am saying is that it is very unique. Of course adding a gate to the car would make it a unique experience as well, but I don't think it's a better uniqueness. The scud experience stands on it's own. I don't think there is a way to improve upon it.

Your mind does not drift or sleep in the scud, you are not looking for a different radio station because you are totally involved in the drive. It is very engaging the way it was designed.

The automated manual gearbox is one of the greatest motorsport innovations, which was introduced by Ferrari in 1989 in Brazil in the Type 640. Nigel Mansell won the race with this gearbox at the first attempt. The gearbox had already been developed by Mauro Forghieri at the end of the seventies, the technical director of Ferrari, John Barnard then implemented it for Formula 1 at the end of the eighties. Ferrari was far ahead of the competition. Ferrari fundamentally changed Formula 1 with this gearbox innovation.

In 1997, this automated gearbox made its debut in the F355 F1. It is probably the best-known example of an innovation from motorsport that made the leap to production vehicles, initially in the high-performance context of a Ferrari, but later across all sectors.

The F1 Superfast II automated transmission in the 430 Scuderia, with shift times of less than 60 ms allowed (for comparison: Ferrari Enzo: 110 ms), represented the absolute pinnacle of this transmission design. It is also important to see the interaction of this transmission with another innovation, the electronically controlled differential "E-Diff".

Anyone who does not recognise this highly innovative, racing-derived uniqueness of this gearbox in the Scuderia seems to me to have simply failed to understand so many things. Either this person does not own a Scuderia or has simply never driven a Scuderia and has no idea about the entire history behind this highly unique gearbox innovation.

Canada location seems to hinder bids a bit on BaT but I think reasonable for an 08 driver with some miles

I typically agree - but this one seller smartly had all the logistics done

Add 2.5% for the duty to be apples to apples in this case

its a brand new car - so pretty cool.

Seller should have left the money in the S&P during that time period would be 5x that, but good for new owner to hopefully enjoy

No mention of service records, if any. If the new owner wishes to actually drive it, rather than display it, they would probably need to spend $5k on fluids, filters and tires to recommission it. Not a big deal. Also the OEM Pirelli PZero Corsa tires are no longer manufactured in the specific Ferrari K1 spec. There are better tires obviously, but if the owner is after originality...

    Hi guys,
I am French from Portugal. I fell in love with the Scud and a friend offered me one off market car with 20,000 km (about 12,500 mls). Rosso Corsa, harness, roll bar, led wheel, black alcantara. Clutch 13.5% and brakes 51%. Accident free and original paint (Only the hood and the front fenders have been repainted because of the stone chips). I have to repaint both front and rear bumpers and the side skirts to make it perfect. Perfect history.
    Price: EUR 209.000 ( approx USD 224.000).
What do you think about this deal?

I don’t follow the European market, but in the US that would be a good deal. Having said that, you’ll only know if it is a deal if you get a PPI done. Even if the seller is your friend, the car may have issues he is not aware of.

What is PPI ? Yes, history is perfect, 7 services (in the service book) within 15 years and 20.000 km, only official Ferrari workshops.

Check the headlight lenses for “webbing” rear windshield for delamination, and carbon fiber panel in engine bay that can turn white due to heat. Not a deal breaker, but costly to fix. Headlight can get cleaned up, supposedly, I haven’t tried yet. Rear windshield is heard to find and can cost up to $8k. I had to buy a new one. And even though the carbon fiber engine panels can be refurbished, I couldn’t find anybody willing to do it, so I bought new ones. Not cheap either.
