Agree probably around 225k. I also feel like its probably a solid car. But the seller's presentations is really not great. Pictures are in full sun/washed out, and owners seems like he/she does not know much about the car/platform. Didn't seem to realize its missing the rear carbon fiber engine panels, and in direct response to a question about whether the engine carbon panels/overflow tank were faded, he said "no." Well, that's clearly not accurate. The coolant overflow tank cover is literally white with no trace of pigment left! And the side panels are also white in the areas that are in closest proximity to the headers. Not a big deal, but obviously huge $$$ to replace those with oem (set for sale in the classifieds recently for 6k). My fear is that the peanut gallery is not going to be overly kind to the seller/car.
Very poor presentation by a "cheap" owner. This car needs a thorough detailing, and paint correction. This car has been unloved for a while. Here is what I see from a quick 3 minute review of the photos: 1) Missing the left and right rear most carbon fiber engine panels. Expensive to find. 2) Coolant tank and left and right main engine panels require sanding and reclear coating. (going to cost at least a couple grand in mostly labor to do that) 3) Lower diffuser has scrapes. Maybe $600 to sand and refinish. 4) Missing the passenger side battery cover foot rest. I believe those are over $1500 if you can even find a matching one in the correct leather this car has (rare). 5) Sticky button syndrome on the center console reverse and auto buttons. 6) Right passenger wheel is scraped up. Probaby $300 to refinish. 7) Coolant tank sticker is scraped up...$30 for a replacement. 8) Right side of front bumper has been resprayed but missing the clear coat or something...it appears to be matte finished. Probably one of those "same day" parking lot repair services. 9) All of the dash vents are showing early signs of sticky finish failure...notice all the dust stuck in the finish? First sign of failure...will only get worse. But can be fixed by StickyRX. 10) Left side CF intake manifold has a mark on the very front on top...not sure if that is just something like a flower petal stuck on there, or something more sinister. Hard to tell, but based on rest of condition...concerning and would want more pictures of that. 11) No mention of any service records or history other than an oil change last year. (WTF?!) 12) Does have CF headlights, but badly fogged up. Figure $1000 each to have refinished by someone experienced in the process...plus bumper removal and reinstallation...so $2600 total for that job. 13) It does have the correct Pirelli P Zero Corsa (K spec Ferrari) tires, but since the K spec for 430 Scuderias have been out of production for at least 5 years, those tires have got to be old, and likely in need of replacement. 14) Wheel center caps are very faded and tired looking, like the car sat outside a lot maybe? While I personally like the color, it is a negative to most. So is the leather, versus the more common tech fabric or alcantara interior. Its a 2008, so no USA carbon package, but in this case only missing the rear CF diffuser. But a factory CF one is not cheap. Based on rough condition, anything over $180k the seller will have done well.
Engine panels (the ones not missing) can be refinished...unsure of cost, but careful sanding and spraying with clear can save them. Flea7 did a set himself and they turned out gorgeous. Not sure what a body shop would charge for that work. I know he spent many hours getting them perfect.
Okay, I watched the video the owner posted...more stuff: 1) The tire pressure warning is showing...so he is either too lazy to fill the tires, or (more likely based on condition) that one or more TPMS has dead batteries and need replacing. Figure on having all four replaced. About $500 to $600 in parts and labor at a competent independant Ferrari service provider (not the dealer). I have an invoice for my Scuderia where the previous owner had the Ferrari dealer replace all four TPMS with factory ones and it was $1400. 2) Cold start and listening to the idle, I hear what might (not 100% sure) be the faint tick of a leaking exhaust manifold (you know for sure if the ticking goes away as the car warms up and the leak seals itself). If so, another $2k (per side) to have it removed, ground flat, then studs, nuts and gaskets replaced and reinstalled. I couldn't hear the passenger side, so may be only the left side needs attention. 3) Tank is empty...guess he will let the new owner fill it back up. 4) CF air boxes also need refinishing, they are getting foggy and whitish in spots on the video. Maybe another $800 to sand and reclear them?
I agree on everything and you have a good eye. It’s a cool car and I wish them luck, but it’s a rough example of a Scud IMO. Honestly, a typical Hawaii taken care of car, which a Ferrari does not deserve. Many houses here don’t even have garages, so yea….
Nice write ups! I’d be in $180k on a car like that. To each their own. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Damn good eye! @collegeboy current owner had it for 12 years...looks like it sat outside the whole time in Hawaii?
I like the car, but if the owner didn't care enough to replace obviously missing items (like the rear carbon panels and the MIA passenger footrest (a total eyesore that I would have addressed in my first week of ownership!), what else may be missing/neglected/deferred? Again, not a bad car for the right price. I mean, it still has low miles so its got that going for it! I also feel like the interior may put some off. Red leather is definitely an acquired taste. Unique, yes, but not for everyone. Also, for what its worth I would bet good money this car was not sitting outside in Hawaii for years. It would look nowhere as good as it does if that were the case! My daughter just moved back home after finishing up her college degree on the North Shore and we just shipped her Jeep Wrangler back. It was parked outside for 3 years. It was absolutely hammered from the elements. The entire undercarriage was rusty, the black plastic trim elements were nearly white, there is rust emerging through the paint on the door hinges, the chrome lug nuts are rusting, and the front winch cable is rust-colored!
You may want to check with Jeep, they have a huge recall going on involving the Jeep hinges door panels and hood for corrosion. Apparently the hinge material isn’t mating properly with the panels and is oxidizing.
It doesn't look like out in the open Hawai'i sun for 12 years, but 50% chance the car was in an open air garage not right by the ocean and not on the windward or north side. So basically, it got hit by the indirect sun every single day for hours, but not direct and no direct salt spray. It looks like it. Pretty normal here honestly and even for $100k+ cars. Just how we were all raised. Cars are parked outside. Orrrrrr like he says, he just drove it a lot, and therefor parked it a lot outside. Rain and sunshine over and over isn't good for any car. I would like everyone to know my Stradale sits in my dehumidified, sealed, and dark garage.

This one will be interesting to see where it ends up. I'm just now beginning my search for a Scud. Checking on past auctions on BaT and Cars & Bids there doesn't seem to be a lot of sales. Mostly reserve not met is all. Looks like dealer cars have been sitting as well. This might take some time.
Follow up: Scud from Cars & Bids sold for 212k. I was thinking it was going to sell for 220-230 range. I'm also surprised it met the reserve as to even sell which tells me the seller most likely picked it up for under 200k. This bodes well for me in my search as it shows prices aren't really increasing and the cars that are listed for sale are overpriced and sitting. https://carsandbids.com/auctions/KZNeJ5AZ/2008-ferrari-430-scuderia
Yes, and strange that the seller is not trying to mitigate the effects of the accident.....not mentioned at all in the writeup, just the free carfax (which is nice but still an unknown what the severity was).
As soon as I posted above (post #3144) I got a reply 30-minutes later and saw it on here. Now that reply is gone. Here it is. Strange and why? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Was attempting to add a pic of the car and somehow deleted the post. At any rate, 315k Image Unavailable, Please Login
