If you think that is big look at Aperta vs GTO. Approaching 800k-1M USD more. In this case both cars are highly limited. The gap to the regular 599 is even bigger. Supply driven.

 

Are you sure this was a factory option, my understanding is that it is aftermarket only? Price list and options list only show rear deck for a Scud.

Not sure that is the case for 16Ms. There are 4 on autotrader and zero at Official Ferrari Dealers in the US. A year and a half ago there were 13-15. I would say supply is relatively low compared to where it has been. Granted, a few months ago there was only one for sale which is the lowest I have seen it over the past few years.

Anyone have an idea as to why the Scud at Southlake is moving around from dealer to dealer and not selling? I talked to Matt there and he said it is the best looking one he has seen. I know the radio system mods are hurting the value. I was going to place a deposit and have a PPI completed. He said someone else was trying to arrange financing and it seems that deal fell through. Wondering if it is a condition issue. Figured someone here might know the history. Been looking at many replacement Scuds and as tempted as I am to buy a 16M, I want to drive and track the snot out of it...figure I should get one at the lower end of the range to have less smileage depreciation. A heavy stereo is a lightweight track focused car = sales proof. Additional strikes:

- No US carbon package
- Aftermarket wheels
- Color combo

 

- it's black which historically has always represented the bottom of the market
- non-standard livery

 

The drivers seat bolster wear should be consider "excessive" and does not match the mileage, unless the previous owner (s) were careless, or 300lbs+...

I would add that you can't count on the depreciation. For instance, my scud is roughly worth what I paid for it (or more) a year and 8k miles later. So I say buy what you want unless the discount will really make a difference for you.

Stereos scare people away because they can introduce a range of issues. Done properly, they are totally safe, but may not be 100% reversible depending on the requirements at the time of install.

Stereo mods that tore up a good part of the interior are killing that car's resale. I am sure that cost of putting it all back to original would be an enormous expense.

 

I noticed that too...bolster rash that seems excessive...I noticed that there have been several owners. Maybe that ups the careless theory.

Thanks everybody, I think ya'll are right that the wheels, red stripe, lack of US carbon, stereo and other (perhaps unseen items) are probably making this car move slowly. I passed on a good one with all the right stuff a couple months ago, because it had a gash in the front splitter area. But, it was perfect in every other way and it was $20k less. Argh. Hunt - continues.

Yes, the stereo system would be a deal breaker for many, including myself.

 

Said it before - Really don't know where this mind-set comes from?? Maybe it's a US thing but I've had 3 red Ferraris and now have a black Scud and here in the UK see no flex in pricing due to colour.

For sure Red is / may be easier to sell but doesn't command a premium, examples...

Those prices are crazy. Do you know what the price of a Scud was when new in the UK?

Interesting choice to install regular 430 bonnet vents...

I doubt it. Those look to be after market as they are 3k 2x2 Twill Weave Carbon. Ferraris use 3k plain weave carbon for the outer layer.
