Scud tires

Not sure about size but MPSS are great tires��

 

I have a scud and I don't think those are the standard sizes, maybe only out by 10 mm, but why would you want to get wider tires?

Are MPSS considered suitably high enough performance, or would one be expected to go with the Cup 2 which is their track tire version?

Anyone used Bridgestone RE11?

BTW, the previous owner of my car put 305s (Corsas) on the back of my car.....with stock size front...not sure of the logic of that, but will return it to stock 285s once they are worn...which should be end of summer if I drive it as much as anticipated.

 

I had RE-11s on my Scud. Great street tires and reasonably priced.

 

I would stick with the stock size.

Why? I have 305 corsas on the rear of my car now. (installed by previous owner). Diameter is 1/2" smaller in diameter from the oem 285 size...and when worn, obviously even smaller. My local dealer had concerns with upsetting the traction control and possible brake wear with these non standard tires sizes. They recommended sticking with stock sizes. What do you folks think...valid concern?

 

You do want the outer diameter of the tire to be close to the OEM specs. I can't remember what the particular numbers are, but I'm sure Taz could tell you. From what I understand, it will mess with the traction control as the computer expects to see particular numbers of revolutions but will see different numbers if the tire size is off.

 

That was the concern my dealer expressed. They said under track conditions or "spirited driving" I could possibly see the traction control activated more frequently, and result in accelerated brake wear on the rear brakes.

 

I suppose it would also affect performance as the TC would cut in more often and/or to a greater extent than it should.
