Not me. I'm still not okay with the transition to turbos. Yes, the F40 was turbocharged, but that car is the exception. For me, it's got to be NA.

Had the privilege of watching the Monaco GP from Casino Square in 2013, the last year of the NA V8s. The new turbo cars are just not the same. Sound matters!

It sounds alright to me...needs an aftermarket naughty exhaust like every other Ferrari I've ver owned...and besides, the sound of the V8 has historically been on the decline since the 355, so this shouldn't be so difficult to accept.

With each passing generation and the accompanying regulations from each, the sound has been neutered, fortunately, I was able to open up the Scuderia after much trial and error to re-achieve that perfect F1 sound from the glory years.

I've accepted the fact that no modern Ferrari will ever sound as epic as the older ones, that's why you keep 'em and add a 488.

Yeah, hard to tell from online videos, but the exhaust note sounds muted to me, which is the typical result when you divert exhaust gases to drive turbines. I'll reserve judgement until I hear it in person, but I don't have high hopes.

Other than the sound, turbocharging is also disappointing to me because it seems like cheating. I was always impressed by how much power Ferrari could extract per liter of their NA engines. Seems like "anyone" can make a lot of power by attaching turbochargers or a supercharger. I guess what I'm saying is I like the purity of a naturally aspirated engine.

Sorry to unearth a year old thread, but I'm kicking around the idea of trading my scud for a speciale. Curious if opinions have changed after a year. Really tough decision as I don't necessary think the Speciale is 150-200k more, but also looking for a potential change. Thought about just adding the Speciale, but aside from no garage space, i barely have enough time to drive the Scud, so don't want to have the car just sit.

    Also kicking around the F12....

I guess it depends on your use. If you plan to track the car or have access to unlimited wide open roads, you'll probably enjoy the added performance of the speciale. For normal street use though, the scud just feels more raw and unfiltered. I found that the speciale just didnt feel that much different from a regular italia unless you were really pushing it hard. Personally I want my fcar to feel like an event every time I take it out (one of the big reasons I sold my italia). If you need some change, you could always just add a S-line exhaust to your scud. Can't wait until I get mine installed.

The spec is a better car in all aspects, more refined, faster....but is digital and the driver is much more insulated. If you want a beautiful car which is completely refined, ultra fast get the Spec.

If you want an analog, raw, visceral experience and where you smell, feel, hear the car all around you and become part of it. You feel like you are "at one" with the car. never again will Ferrari make a car like the Scud aside from the race track.

I am on the hunt for a Speciale but am not thinking of trading my SCUD. If fact, right now my scud is at the shop getting paint corrected to remove the signs of the years. It's all worth it.
I am adding more cars but not trading it. What can replace it that's not a million dollars worth? IMO nothing.

And if the Pro was driving the Speciale then he would lap the guys driving the Scuderia.....

I owned a Scuderia for 44,000kms. Loved it. I think it is one of Ferrari's greatest driving experience cars ever made. Sure there are more unique, more rare Ferrari's and even some that are worth 10 times the price. But actual driving experience the Scuderia has to be one of the best up there. I sold it and bought a Speciale. Mistake. Big mistake. The mistake was not selling it for a Speciale. The mistake was selling it. I didnt realise how great of a car it is.

The Scuderia really shows that numbers on paper mean nothing. I feel there was a big shift in Ferrari Technology and the Scuderia is really on that turning point that the others kinda missed or gain to much of. It really felt like a race car. It was a hard car to drive on the limit. Really hard because like how Clarkson said, you make a mistake and it would kill you, thats how it made you feel every single time. You had to be on the ball all the time. I was rather against paddle shifts but the Scuderia really showed me if you were really driving the car on the limit and using the engine throughout the whole rev range, you had no time to do a gear shift with a stick. The Scuderia is dynamic, its is a weapon! It felt like an AK-47, but in the way how you could just flog it and it will respond every single time. It is so responsive in every aspect, braking, cornering, road feel, noise from the engine and the feedback it would give you was intense. It is a machine!

The Speciale is an amazing car too, but different. Very different. It is so much faster then the Scuderia but it has all the tech to go with it. In my first opinion I thought directly you need the extra tech because things happen so much faster, but I admit, I dont have the driving kilometer experience in the Speciale as I had in the Scuderia as of yet. But the Speciale is so much easier to drive, not as loud, not as emotional and easier to park:D I was surprised how much the cars have progressed in one generation leap, tech wise. You feel safer going faster in the Speciale or should I say more comfortable.

I am not going to answer you question well with this last response. When my house is finished next year I will be adding a Scuderia to my collection. But I wont be selling the Speciale.

    Thanks for sharing.

The new cars right now removes some driver involvement. Thats one of the mistakes i made recently.

Now, i am back to manuals.

Best part is, it passes the sound limits at all the tracks in my area.

Very nice. GT4 would have been my first choice, but the 911 lets me take my son along on drives. Just took it to the track today and had a blast.

Yes, you're a "poor" man because you can only afford to add a brand new GT4 to your scud. My eyes are welling up with tears just thinking about it. :)

I'd love to get the GT4 and use it as my primary road/track car. Did you have to pay a big premium to get one? It was my understanding that you couldn't pick one up for sticker price.

If only the V12Vs sportshift had the F1 superfast from the start. The dogleg 7 speed is gonna be hard to get used to. BTW I heard all the V12VS manual are spoken for, you have it on ordered? I was just at the Aston Martin Factory 3 weeks ago, and those GT12 and GT8 are beautiful. Wrote a factory tour report on 6speed if you are interested.

There are a few of them on sale for a few thousand above MSRP on 6 speedonline. Better yet, you can just get this one by GMG and call it a day.

Apologize ahead if this link is against the rules.

So will you add a Speciale if you have a SCUD? Or just look for another car to add with the SCUD?(Is thereany?)
