I have 2009 scud and a 2015 991 gt3. I am considering getting a Speciale. Can someone who has owned a scud and now owns a speciale enlighten me about the difference between the two as a driving experience. I know all the stats and have watched every video. The scud is an amazing driving experience but a bit of a rough ride and not as controlled as the gt3. I love both.

WHATEVER you do, don't drive a Speciale...you will never look at your Scud again

I was in a similar boat as yourself, I drove a 458 coup then a Scud, back to back, same street roads. I Preferred the Scud and bought it (2009 car). For the next 2.5 years I drove my Scud 11,000 miles 99% on the street, but I was always looking to see what could replace it. (I drove 12C's Aventadors's, R8's 911's)

Along came the Speciale, I drove that and knew within 5 mins. Sold my Scud last October and will take delivery of my Speciale next month. For me the Speciale in 20% quicker and 10% more refined over the Scud....with all the benefits of excitement and engagement that a track focused V8 brings. I'm also 3 years older and wanted a more "modern" supercar. Whatever you decide there is no wrong answer in my eyes, enjoy in good health!

I've had the pleasure of owning both. Briefly, the scuderia with exhaust sounds much better than stock speciale. The bang-bang shifting of the single clutch F1 transmission of the scuderia made for a more dramatic driving experience, in a good way. The speciale is clearly a more modern car, much more refined than the scuderia. The speciale could be a daily driver, the scuderia more of a point A to point A car. I chose the speciale over a scuderia-mclaren 12c spider combo, and don't regret it. Hope this helps.

    Best,
    Tom

I'll chime in... I drove a Scud in 2011 for a few days in Germany. I'm currently a Speciale owner and like the OP also have a 991 GT3. For the most part, my feedback mirrors what has already been said. The Scud was light on its feet, sound really great, and did really bang you hard in the back when it shifted. But I didn't leave the Scud favorably impressed. The car I drove had around 18,000 hard miles on it. Already it was having annoying mechanical issues. Every time it shifted under more than half-throttle, the bang was accompanied by a loud squeak that seemed to be coming from somewhere in the chassis. The car I drove also had a tad of torque steer, possibly from a motor mount that was on the verge of failure(?) And lastly, I found the brakes weren't so good until you got some heat in them.

Last summer I spent a few days in a Speciale. Within 5 minutes of driving it, I proclaimed it the best car I had ever driven and knew I had to own one. With the exception of the seats in the Speciale, which have a non-adjustable, agressively curved lumbar area that hurts my disc-herniated back, I have not a single other complaint about the Speciale and seriously laugh every time I drive the car because the limits and sounds are so insane that I can't believe I'm actually driving a car this good.

    Hope this info helps.

the speciale is the best car from ferrari at least, ever. it's super easy to drive, amazingly light, looks great, sounds great, and is just a hell of a lot of fun. enough creature comforts to be practical on a regular basis. simply put: you need one. or two maybe.

I had a 2008 Scud and am now in a Speciale - Scud is a very raw almost agricultural car compared to the Speciale. I do miss it's quirks, its very mechanical transmission shifts but the Speciale more than makes up for it in agility, speed, steering feedback and ability to drive in relative comfort in the bumpy road suspension setting. I do miss the Capristo valved exhaust I had in the Scud though!

The Scud is a beast, and the valved exhaust we made for it was specifically designed for the maximum performance.

Our Speciale valved exhaust with remote and a set of sport cats OR test pipes (cat delete pipes) is equally amazing.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thank you
