I think I'm about to pull the trigger on a speciale! I already have a 991 GT3 and 2009 Scud. only have room for 2 cars! Really love the scud and the GT3. Any buddy have scud and Speciale?? If i get rid of the Scud will I miss it?? Is the speciale a sufficient replacement??
    thx ji

    Replace the GT3! ;)

If I had enough space a Speciale would park next to my Scud. Two different cars, both amazing (Yes, I drove both...).
To your last question; if you will replace the Scud either way then the Speciale is the only condignly replacement.

If you can add a Speciale to that then you can make a bigger shed first...surely.

I think you'd miss the rawness of the Scud (I know I would).

And I agree with Redcaruser above, I'd get rid of the 993 and have a Scud and Speciale. :)

I'll keep the Scud, sell the GT3 and jump on the Speciale, or do what I did...install lifts in the garage and you can add 1 or 2 more cars.

Keep the Scud I agree you will not be able to replace the rawness and still have Ferrari feeling with the Speciale

Depends on your goals I guess?

I ain't gonna sugarcoat it, but the Speciale on track is bloody sublime...I dove into corners and stabbed at the throttle like no other and made it out as untainted as a virgin. Pretty other-worldly and most importantly, ACCESSIBLE performance, and just very different than the Scuderia...tried doing the same corners the same away almost immediately after in the following session and put 2 wheels in the grass lol.

The feel is so different...and the Speciale just doesn't feel like a race car to me. It has the race car performance, but that emotional connection you get when you sit inside and drive it, is just not race car.

You sit in the scuderia, and there are those exposed welds, metal floors, carbon everywhere and then those brutal shifts...it's all race car. If you drive the Scuderia w nannies on, then you're probably missing out on a huge chunk of that emotional connection. When you have it all off, the thing just comes to life, and nothing is managing your power or your brakes or your diff...it's just you and machine...and that noise oh, the Speciale sounds nowhere as good. In the Speciale, even with everything off, the suspension dampers are helping you pull off Schumacher-grade near-impossible turns, the SSC is keeping all four wheels on track for you and you feel pretty much invincible. There is no fear, there is no tingling, no lingering death sort of speak...in the Scuderia, as Clarkson put it, "You make mistake, I kill you." and to me that is a huge part of that Ferrari passion I used to read and dream about growing up as a kid...

Scuderia is old-school analog, Speciale is new-age digital. One rekindles that nostalgia and Ferrari mystique, the other tantalizes by defying the law of physics.

Porsche GT3, I can't comment much on, never driven one. It is definitely a porsche that I actually think looks sleek enough for me to be able to tell that it's a newer model lol. Then there's the RS...man, that thing looks like a beast and I love everything about it. I want one!

If it were up to me, I'd keep the Scuderia and trade in the GT3 for an RS!!! But that's because I am about the drive...if your priorities are otherwise, then an RS + Scuderia probably wouldn't make sense!

Good dilemma to be in, good luck and happy hunting!

Either change the GT3 for the RS or keep both, expand the parking and wait for the 488 version of the Speciale. That new engine is phenomenal so the lightweight race version is just going to be ridiculous!

    I guess I am.

I'm also a big F1-nut, so the fact that Schumacher helped develop and christen this chassis definitely resonates tremendously with me; it's a marriage of the Ferrari mystique with the genius of a 7-time WDC. Name another car like that!

I know F1 is not big here in the states, but I am amongst the few who follows it religiously.

Oh ya, I forgot to mention, some other guy at the track that day who had sticky cup tires as well was able to match and eventually pass the Speciale. Take that for what it's worth.

So I've never driven the Speciale, but most of this sounds pretty accurate to me. The only thing I would say is "analog" might be a stretch with such technology in the diff and transmission, plus an advanced ABS computer ; ) But I know what you mean just from watching the Speciale reviews by good drivers.

I just went up to CT-off today on the Scud. Took me 4 track days and a lot of training with Skip Barber to feel comfortable going there. I got a faster vs Race mode. : ) This car is such a monster that on street tires it can hang with race cars on slicks. Just crazy. I also wonder if the engine is underrated because it blows away so many cars that should have comparable power.

It's analog in comparison to a speciale =)

A lot of the core underpinnings of the Scuderia chassis paved the way for the 458 e.g. the now ubiquitous "manettino" and "soft suspension" button

None of the Speciale guys in the 458 section get any of the appeal of the Scuderia though, I think they're overcompensating for a lot of their insecurities. You should read some of their really ignorant comments, I'm so glad I'm not part of that group.

CS'ers and Scud'ers for me =D minus the delusional few from either camp haha.

    Gotcha.

    For sure.

    LOL!

Bottom line to me is that there is not one car to rule them all really, which is why I have an SUV, a classic vert, a GT, and the Scud. All of them do certain things better than the others and they all need to be appreciated in different ways.

People don't know what they don't know. If you've never pushed a Scud hard on the track and just use it to go from point a to b, then I could see how you might not "get it". Likewise, if it is all about having the latest/greatest/fastest at the local track day or for bragging rights, then you might not get it either. I always laugh at people that think track days are racing.

The Scud is the closest you can get to a modern Ferrari race car for the street, which is what made me fall in love with it. CS obviously too from what I hear, but it doesn't have the same performance.

Well that rules me out ; )

These guys are not so bad freshmeat.
But they are perhaps a little bit spoiled, these are the ones who complain that the Scuderia has no carpets... ;)

    Amen. Scud forever.
