Not sure there will be much if any depreciation. Value might change due to external market conditions, but I don't think depreciation will have any impact on future prices.

If you are worried about depreciation then Ferrari may not be for you. Unless you are buying a limited production model all will depreciate.
Buy what you like. Drive it. Enjoy the passion and the lifestyle that goes with it
    End of story

    Isn’t a 16M a limited production model?

OP, what are your concerns? Spend the 30 seconds it takes to make a thoughtful post.

I bought my 16M four years ago when they were at their minimum value. It only had 5800 miles on at that time. I now have 21,000. BIG fun. It won't be on the market any time soon. I'm sure that by the time it gets to the same age that a testarossa is now, it will be a million dollar car. I have noticed that the only Ferraris that truly appreciate are the limited production models. When I bought the 16M, they were selling for 230-250, the same price range as a 458. The base 458s are now worth 150-170. They made thousands of them. Not rare at all. That's the key if you care about appreciation. Good luck in your search for the elusive affordable 16M. They will go nowhere but up.

I got my 16M in 2011. It had 500 miles on it and I paid $285K. I now have 6600 miles on it and I'm more in love with the car than ever. Since Ferrari only made 499 of them, there's a decent chance the values will continue to rise over time... but that's not why I bought the car. It's a beast on the track and easy to drive around town.

I try not to think of my cars as investments because it only takes one idiot to blow a red light to put an end to that concept and I really want to drive the car. I have friends who do buy/sell cars as investments, but they're buying super high-end exotics. They don't drive these cars but warehouse them and sell them over time as even if you have the money, you can't buy these cars unless you have the money and great connections.

Find a 16M you like (there are always 5-6 for sale somewhere) buy it and drive it... it's a driver's car.

In 5 years time probably you won't be able to drive petrol cars in some cities. Also track-day's allowable noise will be even more controlled/reduced. The SCUD isn't what we can call low-emission and low-noise car...

These two factors alone (without mentioning other more obvious like what are you going to be doing in 2 or 5 years time) should convince you to purchase it now, if that is your ambition.

There are so many uncertainties today, I think we shouldn't live thinking too much about mundane things such as depreciation. :D

To sum it up...GO FOR IT! (It's my dream car) That super-fast 2 gearbox is a dream.

    The depreciation phase is done.

They have already rallied significantly off the 2012/2013 lows.

Going forward prices will rise and fall but it has to do with the "market" for the car rather than depreciation.

So you still have some "market risk" but that may work for you or against you rather than definitely against you like depreciation.

If that sounds ok for you, then get one! Absolutely fantastic visceral car to drive. They just don't make them like that anymore.
