I'm typically not a "lucky" guy. I generate most of my luck from hard work. However, one of the shops that I sell Ferrari stereo systems to (I own Scuderia Audio www.scuderiaaudio.com) told me that a customer brought him a McLaren 650S and told him to gut the interior and turn it into a track car. The shop owner was kind enough to send me all of the stereo gear out of that car.
Upon closer inspection, I discovered that this system is basically a rebadged Ferrari 488 hi-fi stereo. The subwoofers, the midranges, the tweeters, even the amplifier is basically the same. I'll have to spend a few thousand retooling the adapters to mount the aftermarket speakers into the McLaren, but the work is already half done. Since the amplifier is optical, you won't be able to completely swap the amp out for an aftermarket unit, but I can tell you that this amp is a high quality, high powered amp and is more than sufficient for this application, as long as you're not asking it to also power a subwoofer. Fortunately (just like the Ferrari 488), I have a plug and play system that allows you to add a dedicated subwoofer amplifier to the car. I just have to figure out where to mount the new (small) sub amp. I am good friends with the owner of an exotic auto wrecker within driving distance of my shop so I'll make the trek out there and crawl around inside of a gutted 650 and figure all this out. I'll keep posting to this thread as I make updates. Meanwhile, feel free to ask questions either in this thread or via a PM.

Sorry for the delay. I was sidetracked with a Ferrari 456 project as well as a 360 Spider dual subwoofer project.

The design is complete for the adapters that will allow the use of Focal PS or ES series drivers (6 1/2") in the doors. The first prototypes from the 3D printer should arrive in a few days. Will post pictures as soon as they get here. Meanwhile, here are some CAD renderings.
