I just wanted to give a quick review of the Scuderia audio package for the 488 GTB. Mike over at Scuderia audio was amazing start to finish. Helped answer the million questions I had and was constantly available.

I ended up going with the upgraded Focal components and the JL Sub. Installation was difficult at time, but nothing a little patience couldn't beat. Everything was completely plug and play. The DSP within the amp is fantastic. I was able to get the sub to have the exact response I was looking for. The components are absolutely amazing as well. All the fitment was perfect as well. Anyone who is on the fence should jump on it now and upgrade.

I can help answer any questions as well in regards to install.

I was looking at upgrading the audio on my 458. Has anyone done the component upgrade and is that enough?

I am wondering if I should start there and see how it sounds before getting the amp and maybe sub.

It depends on how you like your music. I’m not a big bass head so I tuned it to just have nice tight and crisp bass that fills in the highs and mids. I went with the upgraded components and they are fantastic. I’m not sure they would produce enough bass that I would be looking for, but I’m sure it can be tuned woth the dsp to make it sound good.

the sub install is pretty easy. Hardest part was mounting it to the firewall and that wasn’t that bad at all.

I did high-end Focals without a separate sub, well tuned that was enough for me. With enough power running to them, the mid-range can give you more than adequate bass for my ears. And that's coming from someone that (a long time ago) ran 2 12" JL Audio W6's in a sealed box.

@Jrachetta i have the F8 spider with lofi system. Need to do an upgrade.

Just been checking out Scuderia Audio, looks like it’s a low intrusive solution.

What did you do? Cabin amp with braket, 6.5 inch doors and sub? Did you do the tweeter pods too? Or can you continue to use the ones in the dashboard?

im sure there are two other smaller speakers higher up in the doors too did you change those?

do you have to strip the whole door?

and on rear pillars there is space for 3” speakers too?

    Thanks.

I went with the upgrade Focal K with the sub and amp. I was able to get the amp out without having to do the entire dashboard. I was able to pop out the HVAC unit and get the 3 main bolts out with ease and then with patience I was able to get the last bolt out with an allen wrench. The amp dropped right out. I removed the amp and connected the harness from scuderia audio and ran it down into the battery well. Mounted the amp to the bracket and screwed the bracket into the battery. Takes so time for sure, but well worth it in the end.

I did use the tweeters in the component sets and they make a huge difference. The stock tweeters remain in the door and do provide some sound. Within the software I was able to tune down the dash speakers just to add some fill and make them available for navigation or whatever else the system needs it for. The sub I just use for filler as I dont need anything too crazy. I dont think the W1 can really handle it, but the W3 definitely can if you want more booming bass.

The install time was a good amount of time because I was very careful on the first door. The first door took hours and once I figured it out the second door took maybe an hour to get everything done. The amp could have been done in an hour ago if i didnt try to take the dashboard off first. The sub takes maybe 30 minutes. Hardest part is mounting it to the firewall for the cargo net to line up and that wasn't that bad at all just tedious.

I did spend hours tuning it to the way I like and if you go that route I can send you the tune file and you can load it and see how you like it. The software was overwhelming at first, but Mike over at Scuderia walked me through it and then it became super easy to navigate.

Thank you for sharing your tune with me. This is the tune everyone should be using it. This fixed all of my issues and made the upgrade worth it. It sounds incredible now.

thanks for the detailed response. Question do you have to take the stock amp out or can you leave it in situ?

I was hoping to not have to take anything off except for the door cards.

You can leave the stock amp, but you’ll have to take the entire glovebox and lower dash off to do so. I was able to take the hvac controls and remove the amp and plugging in the scuderia audio cable and run it towards the battery well. This honestly probably saved me hours of agony and I have no use for the stock amp anyways

You didn't have to take out the glove box and lower dash off? Man, I made my job way too difficult.

Na. I was losing my mind trying to get the glovebox off and then I just took the fuse box and hvac covers off and the damp was right there. 3 of the bolts were right and the other one need some magic to get off but I did. Dropped the amp, connected the harness and ran it right down to the battery. Saved me a lot of headaches

What skills level do you need to pull this operation off? One thing I always worry about with door cards and dashes is rattling. Is it easy enough to put everything back in one piece?

I used to install car stereos when i was in college in the early 2000s so i had some experience maneuvering my way around car stereo, but never anything like a ferrari or exotic. The doors were real easy once all the bolts are identified and removed. Don't worry about rattling with the doors. instead of plastic ferrari uses metal so they fit snug tight. They use solid bolts as well to secure everything back to the door.

The amp would have been extremely tough, but i avoided taking the glovebox out. I was able to get the amp out without doing all of that, but I removed the factory amp completely. If you want to leave it in then you will have some work ahead of you.

The subwoofer is very easy. You run the wire under the carper to the back and make sure its all tucked away. The "hardest" part of doing that was mounting the box to the firewall to make sure the cargo net stayed up, but that wasn't bad at all.

Let me know if you have any other questions, but I will tell you it was all worth it in the end because it is a night and day difference.

Did you dynamat your doors while you were in there? I did, but not sure if it was needed.

I'm going to be taking my sub enclosure out this winter and rebuild/remount it. I think those subs blew it apart. lol

I didn’t use dynamat. I’m not sure it would have made that much of a difference to be honest. Even with stock exhaust with valves always open the noise is crazy as is (not a bad thing at all).

are you using shallow mount subs? I’d love to see the specs on the subs and box. I do like the w1, but I’m feeling I might need to upgrade to w3 eventually. I haven’t had subs since highschool and once I heard the bass it sucked me back in lol

@Jrachetta I’m not too concerned about leaving the stock amp in. I just want to make it as easy as possible. But I would like to still use the tweeters and telephone call speakers in the dash. Is that possible still with removing the stock amp?

where did you place the new amp? In the same position as stock? I see scuderia audio have made a bracket for their amp which sits above the battery too now.

did you change the door card tweeters or put any 3 inch speakers in the in the rears?

You are still able to use the tweeters and the dash speakers. I ended up tuning down the dash speakers quite a bit so they werent overpowered and they are just there to fill in and use for navigation if needed. I can send my tune file over to you if you wanted. I have it tuned with upgrade focal components and subwoofer.

I mounted the amp using the bracket that is provided right about the battery. I ended up removing the back because it was a little tight in there, but it mounted perfect right about the battery and out of the way.

I only replaced the door midrange and added the tweeters. I purchased the upgraded Focal components. Worth the money in my opinion.

Yeah, I'm running (2) JL Audio 10TW3-D4. I've always been a bass head. In High School, I had a Jimmy with (4) 18's in it and have (2) 12's in my Daily Driver.

I'll take some measurements when I pull it out in a few months.
