While I’ve generally enjoyed my scud since I bought it a few years ago, one of the areas I felt it was lacking was braking. I have upgraded the brake lines to stainless steel, flushed with endless brake fluid using my motive power bleeder multiple times, and upgraded the pads to RSC1. While improved over stock, the brake pedal lacks feel and the car just doesn’t stop quickly. On track as well as in the mountains, I found myself having to extend the braking zone as I couldn’t slow the car down, so I could not really attack corners like I did in my old 997.2 gt3.

With all the sales going on this month, I decided to pull the trigger on Girodisc rotors as well as their brake pads. From my understanding, Girodisc uses Endless for their brake pads which is fine by me as I loved Endless ME20 track pads on my gt3.

The new parts was well worth it. The brakes have improved all phases of braking. There is now feel in the brake pedal and the car STOPS. I can now engage ABS which I could not do before on the stock ceramics and with the improved feel and stopping capability I can drive deeper into corners than I did before. While there is a weight penalty, I did not sense any negative change in vehicle dynamics.

The install was also straight forward. I snapped some pics while doing the work and added added some notes for anyone who attempts to swap their rotors/pads.

glad to hear it as this has been my first time using girodisc. I was previously using AP racing j hooks on my track gt3, but with the holiday discounts the Girodisc were a great deal. Looking forward to getting the car on track in the spring with the new brakes and coilovers coming this winter :)

I did the Girodisc rotors on my GT3. They look great and not sure if it is the more aggressive pad or the rotor but stopping is really improved over the steel rotors. Other than cost I'm not sure of the advantage over Carbon Ceramics. The one thing I did learn the hard way is that they no longer zinc coat the rotors unless they are special ordered that way and their website makes no mention or offers the option so I had to paint mine where it would rust after washing with hi-temp silver paint. This was a giant pain but I didn't want to pull the rotors off again and send them out.
