Thinking about buying a 430 Scuderia. Seems like such an amazing car. I know most of the time color, options etc are very subjective and we buy our cars in the color we want and options we want but sometimes especially for special models there can be certain color combinations & options that are very important and may improve the experience of ownership and even value. I like red and yellow; leaning toward yellow since I have a red F355. I also really like the alcantara interior and the race stripe. If I go yellow exterior I think yellow calipers and yellow tach would look good. Looking for opinions and advice on any other options to look for especially any "must haves". As an example is the fire extinguisher a must? Thanks!
I don't think options are really an issue with this car, not that there were many to begin with. Colors are very important for resale, but if you don't care about that, then pick whichever color you like best. More important is aftermarket stuff, which in my opinion detracts from the purity and value of the car. My feeling is there is just one engine, one transmission, and one chassis for this car and that's what makes it special.
Thanks so much for your response Resale/overall value will be part of my decision so with respect to color Red vs Yellow is there a difference or are these collectively considered equal for resale
Amen. And I would add wheels, suspension and exhaust. Best car I've ever driven, and not close. It's a hot rod from the factory. Also - Yellow Scud is absolutely awesome. 100x better than red.
Must haves....as on a Strad I would say harnesses and rollcage, also LED steering. Fir extinguisher cool but takes too much space in the footwell and radio...well you won't really hear it
The biggest must have options are the factory stripes and the US carbon package for 2008 cars. On 2009, carbon pkg was standard. Also alcantara interior was pretty important to me when I was shopping. Red has higher resale than yellow. But I think yellow does look very good on the scud. Only other must have IMO is an xpipe exhaust. I have the s-line on my scud and it sounds out of this world.
I agree Yellow is probably a discount in the current market, but so many other factors weigh more heavily (miles, condition). Also, if you buy at a discount now and sell at the same (relative) discount later it won't matter, and there's a chance that the less common colors actually appreciate MORE over time, so I think the investment prospects of a less common color are higher. I actually feel the same way about stripe. I would prefer to buy without it. VERY rare feature and the stealthy Scud looks amazing with the bodywork but no stripe. Right now it's considered undesirable, but in the future the rarity may command a premium. Of course, if i could predict the market for these cars, my garage would look very different right now, so I don't pretend to know anything.
You never offered it to me! Never driven a CS but almost bought one when shopping for my 360. They were going for $120k back then
Carbon fiber package and factory stripe are the must haves. Both yellow and red look awesome but red isn't called "resale red" for nothing. Alcantara interior is more popular in the Scud than the occasional leather interior. Think it came standard with shields, LED steering, extended paddle shifters etc. I added a remote valve opener which makes the exhaust plenty loud. You might want to try that before changing out the exhaust system.
I wish my car had the iPod connector, the radio reception is aweful where I live. The hole for the cable is there, I need to shove a light in there and see if it fell behind. I'd like the fire bottle, but my girlfriend is usually with me and I think it would make it uncomfortable for her.
