I am wondering how many Scuderia owners are thinking about trading their car for the 458. Of course there is little information on the 458 right now ... especially performance numbers, price and delivery dates. My dealer has offered me one of the first cars and I am considering selling my Scuderia now. So, any Scuderia owners here seriously thinking about selling their Scuderia for the 458?

Most new F-owners want to be seen with the latest and greatest so the answer is yes.

I've had 4 different model Ferrari's in as many years. I can honestly say that the Scud 16M is the first Ferrari that truly exceeds my expectations. I see no need what-so-ever to replace it with a more pedestrian 458.

for a car that I only drive for quick errands and spirited driving - I'm glad I have the scud, and not the pedestrian version as you call it. It is a blast to drive. I really need to take some decent pics of it.

My 16m is so good it's hard to want something else. So far I'm not nuts about the looks of the 458 but I'm sure it will grow on me once I see one in person. Maybe at the cavallino? For now the answer is no, I'll keep my current car.

No way, too much weight for all this extra power. I will wait till 458 scud, or go for the McLaren.

Seems to me those that are gushing over the 458 are mostly not 430 owners. So what do you plan to do?

Personally, I had a deposit for years on a 458 but I've gotten it back because:

    1. My 430 has more performance than I will ever be able to use.

    2. I've had the 430 4 years. It's been great and the longer I have it, the more I like it.

    3. The economy being what it is, I'd probably have to pay 150K PLUS my car to get a 458. I'm not seeing the value there.

I would never criticize another's car buying decision, I'm just curious what other 430 owners plan to do and why.

I see no need to replace my Scuderia with a 458. I'll wait until the Scuderia equivalent comes out.

Yes, provided it's what I think it will be when seeing it and learning more about the specs.

Why? Well, it seems marvelous. Besides, you only live once and you can't take it with you.

BTW: whoever gets my F430 is getting one HELL of car.

I need to see one in the metal.

The official pictures are amazing... then I've seen some other pictures which were less-than amazing.

Since the heavy-hitters at my local F-Dealer will get the first few months allocation, I'll have ample time to decide.

For the time being my F430 is perfect for me.

    Keeping my Scud!.. Why?...

you'll be getting a "mass-production" / "base-model" 458 with 4000 units per year... and then u'll get more comfort, a bit more speed on straight lines with, and most importantly (ironically) a dual clutch transmission :)
The scud in counterpart, ull end up with 1 of 1500 unit produced worldwide, a light weight, aggressive, track oriented beast, andddd the sensation itself.. the F1 transmission which says it all...
Practically, the last "true" Ferrari you could ever get... sadly...

    No.

Current plan is to keep my Scud indefinitely. It has more than enough power for the road and is hard to fault.

Loved the first 458 renderings but most of the pics I have seen, have not been anything like as nice and don't particularly like the rear or front aspects. I'll reserve opinion to seen in flesh and driven though.

More likely to look at new McLaren, if it really is low weight for this class (under 1300kgs) but the Scud has a good balance of power/grip and chasing power can be counter-productive to driver enjoyment on the road. I'm more interested in how it feels, the grin it produces, than magazine number racing.

Laying out 3X what the 430 is worth probably isn't going to happen. The 430 is a great car.

I'm probably keeping mine. The 430 has more performance than is usable on the street, and they aren't going to offer the 458 in a manual, from what I've heard. Without a manual option, I'll keep the 430.

However, I'm saying this before I take a ride in one. All may change after I've ridden in one.

There was a time when I would spend to satisfy my "lust", as in "can't wait", or "don't want to miss out", etc.

I now realize I never had time to fully appreciate the car I owned because I was already "in" the next car. Over the past 3-4 years, I changed my pattern and keep cars longer (resisting the temptation to buy buy buy). I am now convinced, jumping from one car to another does less for me than keeping cars longer. Specifically, driving my 430 for the past 2 years brings increasing pleasure and I feel that it has just begun to break ME in. No need to rush to a 458. Best
