Yup, said it many times in fact. No longer do it at such a ferocious pace either. It gets old really fast. These days I own all my toys outright and I keep them for years and years.
Papster, for you, and you only, I'll take one when I return home. Actually, doesn't look a whole lot different to this - http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=137612822&postcount=90
I know what it looks like. I saw the pics of the interior when the car was still listed for sale at Maranello Motorsports. LOVED the car, just wasnt too fussed on the red floor carpets. Maybe cause its a darker red than Scotts old 360, I dont know? When I was 348 shopping, I came across a red 348 with tan seats, and red floor carpet. In person, I hated it!
It is actually exactly the same shade of red as I specified in my 360. It was a standard colour in 355's when they were new. The original carpets were black and were in dreadful condition, all filthy and had numerous cigarette burns, a legacy of it's "underbelly" past life. As well as replacing the carpets I sourced a set of genuine Ferrari sports seats and had blackmans do the red alacantra inserts. The only other mod was a 360 Challenge wheel and spacer. A later owner had the wheel trimmed in leather as you now see it. Other mods included the full 1998 kit and this is the only car here with the full monty specification. The engine bay was restored and 3/4 of the car repainted. The best 355 Challenge in the country and one of my all time favourite cars. Now with JM who will look after her properly
Same colour?? Cool cool. I liked the 'brighter' looking red carpet in your 360, but if its the same as this, then it may have been the flash on the camera that made it stand out like it did. Either way, beautiful car and I am sure PP's 355 CH is just as sweet.........now. I have probably asked already, but why did you not keep this one if its an all time favourite?
Heheh here we go - you're talking to a guy who brought THREE Ferraris to the dancing donkey jamboree and spent the whole week driving a panzer taxi...
It was 3 Ferraris ago, if I had kept it I wouldn't have had what came next. Unless you can see into the future, you can't really tell if the next step is better or worse until you have taken it. The 360 was a backwards step, the F50 and N-GT are entirely different animals. In some ways it would be interesting to drive it today. I wonder if it would live up to my memories of it?
Hmmmmmm, 2 of the 3 are unregistered and can't be driven on our roads, so they hardly count. The 3rd is a 30yr old 308, so the CSL was the best car available to drive by FAR. That was an awesome car!
Must admit I was tempted to make an offer myself - can't believe what it was "worth" in the end. Kinda glad though, too big a car for moi.
slower in the straights than the F50 but faster around the corners, would be my guess. either way, must faster per $....but who cares. you could drive it every day, at least. NGT? well...forget it!
Nope, not at all. I knew it was coming and it won't come here until very late this year anyway. IMO the difference in power/torque is so small that it won't make a perceptible difference. In addition, the car is FAR too big and heavy to have any sporting pretensions no matter what engine you shove under the hood. This car really is HUGE and you really notice it in tight confines. Going down a ramp into an undeground carpark is not a comfortable thing to do for example. I also think that the sequential paddle pop gearbox is not suited to a luxury grand tourer like this. It really is a car that is better suited to a slushbox automatic. Take one for a test drive and you will see exactly what I mean.
