My scuderia does not have a radio, but want to install Ferrari Becker for long distances trips... Do you know if the car comes however with all wires and plugs and it's a simply plug and play job? or should I expect to work on this for hours and pull all wires/cables behind the dash?
If the car came without radio, there are no cables in the car. However, since the dash is open underneath there should be fairly simple job to pull all wires...
If you are going to put in a radio don't buy the Becker. It is a very poor radio. I swapped mine for a Alpine, much much better. If, probably never, I sell the car I will put back the original.
some cars with radio delete come with harness behind the plate (search this). pop it off and take a look. its variable. mine is a radio delete and is wired for one but obviously no speakers. expensive option to put speakers in. for the long distance rides consider a iphone with bluetooth speakers, like a bose. i have decided to go radioless for the time being but will do the bluetooth thing if i feel the need.
If you really want to hear music I recommend an iPod with headphones, it's easier to deinstall for the track. It's so funny: four weeks ago my colleague has bought also a Scuderia, a white one from a dealer in Ticino (btw he has test driven also the red one from Altendorf...). What do you mean was the most important feature for him? Yes, the Scud had to have a radio, in this respect he was not willing to compromise! I guess you need to get to know my colleagues, you two are very similar. This Sunday I'm in a driver training course with him, I'll tell him about you.
The world is small I have teste both , the white one and the red one but both where not to my perfection standard...maybe we will meet once...I still miss the Klausen pass to do...I'll let you know
I love it. Why on earth would anyone put a top notch system in a car that has the WORST acoustics with minimal sound deadening and an engine 8 inches from your head? Makes no sense. You're not going to get any good sound out a great radio anyway.. so why not avoid the pimpin' scrolling letter and bright chrome knob that stands out? Mediocre sound AND it looks silly. The becker will at least look OEM. I'd put a temporary wire under the central tunnel and plug the speakers in when needed behind the rear seats. You could even use the blaupunkt subwoofer for more base..
...and Switzerland is even smaller! Yes please let me know when you're around, I would be pleased to show you the Klausen!
