Car = 1986 328 About five years ago, bought the short "in-line" heater hose drain cock they make. the one that goes up front just behind the cover plate between the front wheels. Last year I finally installed it. I also added a new Stant 16PSI coolant reservoir cap. Since then, I have had slow coolant leaks. I have narrowed down 2 of 3 (hopefully only 3). I have the car up on ramps and pressurize the system at the tank for testing.... Note: Old cap would hold pressure up to approx 13-14 PSI, then release and go down to zero when testing... I have noticed, at approx 15 PSI, I get a small drip from the drain cock. Not sure if it's coming through the drain (leaking through the inside tapered seat) or through the threads where it's screwed into the metal hose coupler. I need to have a closer look... Anyone else have this? I assume it's an easy to fix issue. Been told that some thread lock is used when those are screwed in so thought I would query you guys before I clamp off the hoses, pull the coupler off and try to unscrew the drain and replace or re-seal it... Maybe if I get it off, I can pressurize the coupler and see where it's leaking...?
I left a message. Should hear back but thought I might see if anyone else had experienced a drip.. I going to take a closer look but would seem rare for the “seat” to Leak under 15 PSI so thinking the threads are not tight enough... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have the SRI coolant petcock drain installed. No leaks noted. Sent from my SM-G900V using FerrariChat.com mobile app
