Greetings to all - while washing the back end of the 308 over the weekend I had an idea which I suspect is not original, but since I cannot recall ever having seen it mentioned in the past, I figured I'd float it out here this morning for your review and comment.

Is there a supplier who manufactures a yellow Scuderia shield emblem -without- the Prancing Horse? The idea is that one could remove the conventional chrome OEM Prancing Horse from the rear of the car, carefully center and apply the properly sized horseless shield in this location, and then reattach the Prancing Horse back in the original position, on top of and through the shield. The end result would be a sort of 3-dimensional look to the shield, with a raised horse in the center.

I think that this design might not look as much as an afterthought as so many of the owner installed shields look to me. As a more subtle option, the OEM chrome Prancing Horse could even be refinished with a black anodized finish which might work better against the yellow shield background than would the OEM chrome horse. The yellow shield could serve to break up the otherwise monochromatic look of the rear of the car, and, of course, if the resulting look is not quite what one wants, the shield should be easy enough to remove, with no harm done.

Has anyone ever seen or heard of this idea being done before?

    Cheers - DM

I like the idea. Here's the magnet badge 3" x 4". The horse comparing side by side appears to be the same size. Drilling hole (s) and putting the chrome horse on top may cover the black horse. Looks easily reversible.

I considered the idea of getting an existing shield with horse, and then placing the chrome emblem over it, but without having actually done this, I thought that there would be bound to be minor and subtle differences in the decal horse vs. the chrome horse such that teeny bits of one would stick out around the edges of the other. The two horses would have to be almost exactly identical for this to work - thus the idea of starting with the 'horseless' shield.

The more that I have thought about this one, the more I'd like to try it to see how it might work. But, again, the lack of a shield w/o a horse is the stumbling block.

Maybe someone who is clever at such things (I am not!) could do something like a PhotoShop manipulation of a shield, with the horse removed, as a template pattern?

The shields talked about already exist, or existed. Only they are curved and meant to be put on the front fenders. Made by Jean Baccarat of St Tropez France, were on ebay regularly 2-3 years ago. Don't think it would look nice on the back of the car, no insult meant but kit car builders are known for putting too much/wrong badges on their creations.
