Ok, ok, I know this thread will be hijacked in 60 seconds for a discussion on whether to or not and legality of it BUT ....... I'm damned well going to put the enamel badges on my 348 fenders and am going to recess the fenders for them. After doing a search here, the recommendations drift between the YoMagic ones and the FoA ones. Has anyone here got any details on the FoA ones? More importantly... can anyone give me the correct positioning dimensions based on a 348 Competizione? Thanks in advance Drew
Brave soul! I still have the enamel shields in the bag they arrived in. I can't even make the move to double stick tape them to my fenders. Make sure you start a thread on the installation with lots of pictures. I don't know the correct dimensions for the installation location, but thanks for asking (I'm sure many of us would like to know the real location). BT
The bodyshop was quite surprised and said that it wasn't everyday someone wanted to pay them for putting a dent into a Ferrari!
Hell yeah, they were probably excited eh? I put them on (unreccessed) and I like'm...add a nice touch in my opinion.
There are some nice pictures of a black 348 with the recessed shields in the thread about help pricing the '92 348 with 31k miles. check it out. BT
Go for it i fixed new wings on last year and someone said to do it and i wish i had now,the wings are a pain in the ass to get off. good luck. Andy.
Not familiar with the FoA ones, but I put a pair of YoM ones (used to be called "SFerrari") on my 328; they look gorgeous, fit perfectly, and have held up fine. I recommend them without hesitation. My only thought here: The YoM shields are slightly less thick than the factory ones, and this is specifically to make them look correct on an unrecessed surface. If you punch in the fender, then apply them, they'll look wrong. Also I think you're asking for trouble & expense having a bodyshop punch in those recesses. If they get them at all wrong - and you're dealing with a special shape in a vague position here - you're in headache city. Also a major pain if you ever decide you don't want the shields anymore, or you put the car up for sale and someone likes everything about it except for the shields. My recommendation: Buy the YoM shields, put them on with the doublestick, and don't recess your fenders. Trust me: The shields will look perfect.
