I wonder if the Scuderia Shields on both side below the side mirrors were option in the original purchase ? I see some cars have it and some don't . My F512M doesn't have it.

None of the TR/512/M came with factory scuderia shields, it never was an option.

I personally don't think it works, it breaks the beautiful curved side-line going from the from to the back. It "interrupts" the eyes.

Here is a picture of my car with and without (thanks photoshop). After doing this I decided it would be a mistake to put shields, but it's only my opinion! Some like them and that's totally fine.

Yes but they look pretty sweet on Rossa :p. Mine came with them (not originally of course) and I'm still in limbo between off and on.

The 355 /550 had the option.

The Fiorano 355 had them as standard.

No Testarossa, 512tr or 512m had the shields as an option.

Frankly I don't have an opinion either way. The TR is a beauty with or without shields.

I am a fan of the shields on all Ferrari models. It seems naked without it to me, like a painting with no signature in the lower right corner.

if you put an original shield on ( like the 288 GTO ) then you also have to work on the fender. the original one is not only a decal. it is about 5 or 6 mm thick and when you put this then on the fender it looks terrible. so you have do to it like it is on the 288 GTO, and this is much work to do it right - but looks good then, like original, even it is not

My car was owned by a swiss collector from 1996 - 2012
and after he bought the car, which joined room with a 275 GTB and a F40
he wanted that the 512 TR get shields like the F40
and so a pair original F40 shields went into the fenders.

Really perfect metal work and i love it! :)

I did exactly the opposite; had these plastic F badges for 4 years ... and then removed them ... :) :) :)

Thanks Guys for the information ; just read from "Red Headed" - there were 15 Tess. were built with factory S.S. only for the 15th Anniversary of the Japanese Ferrari Dealer. So all other Tess, TR and 5`12M should have no S.S. unless it is after market. I personally like the S.S. on my ex-360 and ex-430.

This is not a fact. The shields were an option, everything was possible from Ferrari.

There is a big difference between an official option and a special request from the factory. Those special requests as we know have nearly no limits and have never been recognized as an option.

Yes there certainly is a difference but not all aftermarket as suggested.

With as good of technology as they have now they should be able to make the plastic ones look almost identical to the metal ones even the chrome
    portion.

No, there were 15 made at a special request for one of the distributors but we cannot accept it as an option.

Well I wouldn't be in the market for a fake Rolex and I don't have any clients that are either. Lets hope no one does that. We have cheapened things enough already.

Out of the 4 Tr's I have owned, only one had he plastic shields installed by the previous owner. I was just saying that it looks like they could be made much nicer than the cheap looking plastic ones for those that like them. You can buy the real ones and attach them to the fenders but the contour would not work as they were designed for the stamped depression in the fender. They don't bother me one way or another. Stock is always nice but the TR can be tastefully improved to one's likes if desired. Turbo is my choice.
