Just wondering when factory installed shields were available? I know the difference is that the factory installed ones are ceramic and the fender is recessed, and the dealer installed ones are set on to a non recessed fender. But I'm not sure during which model they offered them as factory installed. Thanks.

First available on the F355 in 1998.

I think 348 competizione had them as well.

Just to add to the discussion, shields don't really belong on road cars. They're only for racing Ferraris and special Ferraris like the F40. AtleAt l this is how I feel. Not sure how true it is.

Racing Ferrari's should have paint or decal shields. Can't be lugging around all that extra weight :D

I love the real shields that came from the factory. I’m not a fan anymore of the stick-on variety.

    But wear what you like.

I put them on my 348 because it's my 348 and the yellow in the shields matches the yellow of my Porsche front brake calipers. :)

I see that Braden is restoring a 95 which has the inset fenders, but someone probably changed them at some point.
