I have a very reliable source in Italy that has confirmed the Scuderia Spider. Deliveries for USA will start March/April 2009. Maybe only 100 cars for the US. Price not determined yet but will be expensive.

Old news. 500 total production should mean more than 100 for US

Yep, I agree this has been discussed before. But in the USA none of the dealers would admit there would be a Scuderia Spider. Now, whether the dealers want to admit it or not, the Scuderia Spider will be built. USA gets about 25% of the Ferrari production. So even based on 500 world wide cars that would be 125 cars for the USA. I was told it would be less than that.

In Asia it has been confirmed by the dealers for a while. It was more than discussed - I point blank said I had confirmed an order for a car quite some time ago!

Ive been told 50 cars in the UK. Dealers have been shown pics and outline specs. Apparently it has some specific Spider-Scud options like carbon roll hoops.

I'm not upset. I won't order one because I'm not a convertible person. I think in the long run a Scud Spider will help keep the resale values up on all Scuds. I imagine this car will be over $325K.

Why would anyone buy scuderia spider. You're defeating the purpose.

Think of them as two different cars. You've got a faster 430 coupe and now you have a faster 430 vert. I happen to own a vert (not a ferrari) as a toy car/cruiser. If I was to buy another toy it would probably be another vert. You just can't beat the smile a convertable puts on your face, or maybe that's the wind forcing a smile eh anyway I love a convertable.

    +1 exactly

I dont understand why this car is being builded. I prefer coupe but i like Spiders as well. But i thought Scuderia is together with CS pure race car. Never saw racing in Spiders :) To have Spider is standard 430 just perfect IMO.

Wait a second, F1 is actually Spider :D

I'm sure it will be a great car , but by next spring I might as well wait a few more months and get the 430replacement spider to go with the Scuderia

Some of Ferrari's most successful race cars were spiders..

Whatever. If you want a track car, buy a F430 Challenge.

It's a face-lifted F430 to finish the line before the model replacement.

Seems like a little bit of gratuitous profiteering on Ferrari's part, if you ask me. And since I'm a CS and Scud "client" - as Ferrari calls it - I think I smell a little too much of the Porsche mentality here, padding the bottom line. Lets face it, the California is already a move in that direction. But a Scuderia spider? Does not make sense except economic sense for the company. Will discuss it w/my dealer. I'm going to tell him I want to be first on the list for the Scuderia minivan - the light weight high performance one w/carbon cup holders.

What purpose? The fact that it's a lighter weight, more powerful, faster shifting, more attractive car? I doubt that most people buy the Scud primarily for its track abilities vs. it's power, uniqueness, beauty. Just look at the CS market. Most of the ones I've seen for sale have supposedly "never been tracked" or have very little track time.

At the end of the day, if you've got customers willing to pay a premium for a unique car, then why not make it. The only problem would be with over supply, which would just defy the whole "unique" aspect.

I guess you don't have a clue or concept of track car or the porpuse of scuderia.
If you want a spider, just get a 430spider.

I think a 430S spider will undermine the special niche, as well as the market value, of the 430S coupe. Putting a rag top on a limited edition 'street legal version of a track car' basically redefines the perceived platform of the model as being more of a sunshine cruiser, wind in the hair, poser car. That doesn't mean it won't be bought by the affluent who like cruising around, but that's just the point. As I have a CS, I won't think or worry about it much. But I also have a Ruf R turbo coup, and when I see a Turbo Cabriolet (convert) go by, I just view it as being more of a high powered luxury cruiser that's somehow diluted the brand. Just my take.

I was told by my dealer yesterday that all the dealers have already been told by FNA that there WILL BE NO 430 replacement in the calendar year 2009, so the Scud spider will be the top spider from Ferrari for at least a year or two. Even when the 460 spider comes out (maybe 2010), I doubt it will be a higher performance car than a Scud Spider. In my opinion, the 2008 and 2009 spiders will be the best spiders yet with standard ceramic brakes offered at a discount relative to their optional prices prior to MY2008.

Even if a Scuderia Spyder does somewhat dilute the Scud brand, it's a welcome addition to the line after the California.

Unlike Porsche, which is now preparing to release a four door sedan. Talk about total dilution.

More like 2011 it usually takes ferrari an extra year to come out with there spider models of the new model. Still the 430S spider looks pretty sweet and ferrari is learning to please the buyers. With people spending big bucks on modding the 360 spiders to look like challenge stradale spiders, they want to cash in , nothing wrong with that.

Exactly! Even if we can all agree that it somewhat goes against what the Scuderia is all about Ferrari is running a business and they seem to think that there is a very lucrative market for such a car.
