    Hi:

I'm looking at buying a desktop sized bronze and marble prancing stallion sculpture. I have no idea of how much money I should pay for it. My upload attempt to FC failed. I found this at an estate sale and they want me to make tham a cash offer. They told me that the original owner got it in 1992 when he bought his F40. They are asking $3k.

Thanks in advance to all of this forms' awesome members.

Is is an original Giacometti? A Henry Moore (sp?)? What is their justification for the high $?

Maybe Jerome (ArtNYC) can comment, but $3,000 wouldn't begin to cover the sales tax if it was an original Giacometti or Henry Moore!

But...this discussion gave me a heck of an idea:

Many of us have seen replicas of Remington's Western-themed bronzes of cowboys on raring-up horses. One that I have is called "Bronco Buster."
Using that sculpture as a guide of sorts, sculpt a stylized Cavallino Rampante with a '50s era-looking F-1 driver in the saddle? A modern-era driver wouldn't capture the mood with a full-face helmet.
