Someone somewhere is posting a SD2 machine for 10k. FWIW Ferrari Other Coupe | eBay I don't know why there is a history report listed also. Jeff Pintler 89 348tb, 86tr, 99 360 3-pedal, S-160 Bobcat
the "updated" software in 2004 issue is a red flag to me-these things have almost zero memory capacity on board-this is on a PC...there is no update of software capability of the unit itself... BE CAREFUL y'all....
Correct. The Sd3 has base unit software but the SD2 is basically an "empty box" that you load software on as you need it..
If you work on these cars day in/day out and the unit is in good condition then yes. My SD3 is a few years old and would fetch 15-18k..
If you're an independent shop and you want to work on an F1 360 or F430, then yes. Actually I think it would pay for itself after a few F1 clutch jobs. -F
It would take a lot more than that. A. It is a door stop until you get another 10 G's in software B. You have a serious disconnect about our profit structure.
Brian, Eddie- Correct me if I am wrong, but I did not think the SD2 worked on the F430, either. SD3 for those?
Correct. In typical Ferrari fashion there was no forward thinking involved. Load it with just a portion of the software available and it just slows to a stop. Really needs to be used in conjunction with a computer anyway. I dump all but just a few common programs on mine and load from the PC for everything else. Better thought out menus than SD3 and more user friendly but a bit of an abacus. It really had no capability for expansion. It was as though Ferrari thought the 360 would be the last car they ever made. But then again if they did that they wouldn't be able to sell the dealers more and more of more expensive equipment. Ferrari really should be ashamed by what they provide (saddle) the dealers for keeping the cars on the road but again in typical Maranello machismo they will look you in the eye and tell you it is the best in the world. It would be laughable if it was for Fiat 500's but its not.
it looks to have the early release CDs, the late updates are kinda big deal-and costly in my experience copyright stuff is important these days-bootlegs are a big deal-IMO
you need a PC, a guy with experience with the product, fly in and physically examine-AND, you are best to have a car to plug it all in to assure system functionality. without this, I'd pass, I did on several until all the moons aligned... just saying...
What concerned me was if it was a Challenge car unit. Those were supposed to have all functions blocked except those applicable to 360 CH
