SD 2 tester, SD 3 tester

I think this here is not the right section for this title, but I not know an other one where to post

I have been offered a used SD 2 tester and also a used SD 3 tester. until now I not know any price.

can someone tell me what the SD 2 can all do and what the SD 3 all can do? the case from the SD 2 says maserati and the case from the SD 3 says ferrari and maserati.

so who can tell me some? may be a link where I can read all? instruction maual?

 

I think an sd2 can do a 360 and 430. Probably early orbII cars!

SD2 covers 348, 512, Mond t, 355, 360 and 456, 456 M, 550, 575, F50 and maybe Enzo.

I have limited knowledge of the SD tools --- but doesn't the sd2 replace the sd 1 and the sd3 replace the sd2
I also understand that although it is meant to replace it the functions on a sd3 for a older car - e.g. 512 etc are hard to work with

Dont like the SD3 much. Only use it when I have to. Have no idea its applicability to the early cars. SD2 covers SD1 cars pretty well so thats what I use.

Since dealers keep popping up and new guys do not have the older equipment they made them cover older cars. Did pretty well with SD2 but the teenagers that built the SD3 were pretty clueless.

I was shop foreman in what was at the time the largest dealer service department. We had a bunch of older guys with experience on the old cars but these days I think they are nuts taking in the older cars. I'd never do it in their place. But Ferrari has decided the dealer network shall be all things to all Ferrari owners despite the near total lack of institutional experience with the early cars or the supporting tools and equipment.

 

Since Ferrari Quebec was sold to the new owners they do not service older cars anymore. Times have changed.
Gone is the Stroll time.

 

That may be but the fact remains Ferrari puts a lot of pressure on the dealer network world wide to service all Ferraris of all ages. Part of that pressure is for referrals to Classiche for restoration work.

Ferrari has been trying to be the one stop shop for everything Ferrari. They would be far better off narrowing their focus and doing a better job at their core business, building and servicing new cars. That ability is getting lost in their desire to get every Ferrari dollar spent into their cash drawer. They remind me of the US Postal Service. More products and services every day when they still cannot deliver the mail correctly.

 

Unfortunately I think this is becoming the way to go for MANY company these days. Profit is not enough they want mega profit.

 

But that is not their end result. The lowered efficiency is reducing profit and damaging CSI.

 

Yes I guess. It's hard for us older guys to understand why they change things that use to be better in our opinion.
Oh well ! Good old times are gone.
