I'm looking at buying a 355 F1, and I happen to have a couple of printouts of the SD2 diagnostics readings for the gearbox and the heater/aircon. At the top of the first page of each printout, there is a field that says 'kilometres: 16855miles'.

Is this value supposed to be the same as the odometer reading, which in this case is 13,200 miles? If not, what does it mean?

Another weird thing - it says 'vehicle: 360', and the 'serial number' (I assume this means chassis number) isn't the same as the car I'm looking at. But I saw these prints being done while the car was plugged in to the computer...

Something doesn't add up! A mile is approx 1.6 km.

The serial number probably refers to the engine's S/N.

I think the SDII header is entered manually by the operator. There is no relation with the actual miles driven, I think...

The SD2 is a totally untrustworthy piece of machinery, that can be manipulated by the operator to show anything he wants it to show. It is reasonably useful to save time with diagnosis, but there is very little it can actually do that can't be done another way.

It is NOT to be trusted, especially with clutch wear readings and mileages.

As for printing, the printer needs to be told which car it is reading, so unless the operator puts this in, it will just repeat whatever the last input car was.

The SD 2 is a terrific piece of diagnostic equipment when used properly. If you are looking for it to generate documents that will stand up to the test of an unassailable document for a court proceeding it was never intended to be used that way. It is just a diagnostic tool and just like a computer, Garbage in, Garbage out.
